SICT Pushes to Improve AIFA’s Connectivity

The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communication and Transportation (SICT) presented different infrastructure projects to improve connectivity between the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) and Mexico City. Furthermore, the US Surface Transportation Board (STB) approved the merger of the Canadian Pacific acquisition of Kansas City Southern, which will improve railroad connectivity in North America.

SICT Will Invest in Land Connectivity to AIFA
The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) presented a plan to improve connectivity for airports in the central region of Mexico. However, the Mexican Front for Defense of National Aviation (FDAN) warns that the new projects will likely fail to cope with the forecasted demand. 

 

Canadian Pacific Railway and Kansas City Southern Merger Approved

The US Surface Transportation Board (STB) announced it approved the Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) acquisition of Kansas City Southern Railway (KCS). The move is expected to increase North America’s logistical capabilities by interconnecting the region with rail lines.

The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) explained that the main access road to the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) will reduce travel time for thousands of passengers and will be toll-free. 

 

Low Rain Volumes Impact Dam Capacity

The National Water Commission (CONAGUA), in collaboration with state governments and municipalities, has worked to improve potable water distribution and to unclutter drainage obstacles, as CONAGUA works to revitalize several dams that have levels far below their total capacity.

State of Mexico inaugurated the Xico Science Park in the municipality of Valle de Chalco to put the entity at the forefront of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. The park is part of a series of recovered spaces that the state government seeks to improve for communities in the region, aiming to promote family life and sports practice, states a press release. 

 

Mexico City Government to Renew 5,800 Microbuses

The Mexico City government aims to improve the city’s mobility and public transportation infrastructure through renewal programs to change all microbuses by 2024 to reduce gas emissions and improve transportation efficiency. The government will replace 5,800 microbuses in the metropolitan area between 2023 and 2024, collaborating with concessionaires, explained the administration via a press release. 

 

NADBank, Baja California Formalize Water Supply Agreement
The North American Development Bank (NADBank) will support the state of Baja California with a financing operation that will serve as a vital solution for an adequate water supply in the state. 

Nuevo Leon Will Pour MX$140 Billion Into Infrastructure Projects
Nuevo Leon expects a significant infrastructure boom over the next few years, as several municipalities and government institutions presented their projects to improve the state. 


Tamaulipas Gets MX$30 Billion for Public Infrastructure Works
The government of Tamaulipas has allocated more than MX$30 billion (US$1.58) from the federal budget to public works in the state in the first five months of the current administration, led by Governor Américo Villareal Anaya.
