The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT), together with the government of the State of Mexico and 10 of its municipalities, have signed a Framework Coordination Agreement aimed at developing infrastructure and improving mobility in the region.

The agreement focuses on supporting the execution and supervision of projects related to public transportation, urban mobility, urban equipment, safe pedestrian pathways, and the management of municipal solid waste. These efforts are concentrated within the municipalities covered by the Integral Plan for the Eastern Zone of the State of Mexico.

The agreement was signed by Jesús Esteva, Minister of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation, and Governor of the State of Mexico Delfina Gómez, among others. Published in the Official Federal Gazette (DOF), the Framework Coordination Agreement establishes the creation of a trust fund constituted by the State of Mexico. This trust will finance a series of infrastructure projects focused on transforming the Eastern Zone.

The projects will target public transport, urban mobility, urban equipment, the creation of safe pedestrian pathways, and the management of solid urban waste in the municipalities of Chalco, Chicoloapan, Chimalhuacan, Ecatepec de Morelos, Ixtapaluca, La Paz, Nezahualcoyotl, Texcoco, Tlalnepantla de Baz, and Valle de Chalco Solidaridad.

“It is a matter of common interest to enter into this Agreement so that the State of Mexico has a fund dedicated to benefiting infrastructure and mobility development,” reads the official publication.

The Framework Coordination Agreement sets forth the terms and conditions under which the federal and state governments, through SICT and the State of Mexico’s Ministry of Finance will allocate public resources to the trust. These funds will support the implementation of projects related to the Integral Plan aimed at enhancing the quality of life and mobility in this key region.
