SICT will Modernize Highways in Sinaloa, Durango

Mexico’s Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) will continue investing to address the connectivity needs of Sinaloa and Durango. SICT announced that works will begin to reconstruct the San Ignacio-Tayoltita Road, a 33.5 kilometers-long stretch in the San Juan Section of the highway in Sinaloa. Works will begin in 2023 but the tender for the road will take place in December 2022.

“The works include the construction of dirt roads, drainage works, asphalt concrete layer, vertical and horizontal signage. In addition to the construction of three bridges: Los Frailes, El Candelero and El Platanito,” explained SICT. 

The three bridges are located between the kilometer 15+500 and the kilometer 49+000 of the road. Works on the San Ignacio-Tayoltita Road began in 2019 with an investment of MX$577 million (US$29.88 million), and that so far, the construction of 24.5 kilometers of the rural road have been carried out at dirt level, from kilometer 65+300 to kilometer 89+800, in both Sinaloa and Durango. 

“The construction of the bridges will allow the upper region of the municipality of San Ignacio to communicate with Tayoltita, Durango. These works will benefit 11,131 inhabitants, of which 5,824 belong to San Ignacio, El Limoncito (El Palmar), Vado Hondo, El Puente, El Espiritu, La Bajada, El Guayabo, Los Platanitos, Tepehuaje, Tenchoquelite, Los Brasiles, El Canton, Las Lajas, Los Humayes, La Huerta, San Fermín, San Rafael and San Juan, in the municipality of San Ignacio, Sinaloa. As well as 5,307 residents of the communities of Tayoltita, La Tecolota and Valderrama, in the municipality of San Dimas, Durango,” reads SICT’s press release.
