The government of Tamaulipas has allocated more than MX$30 billion (US$1.58) from the federal budget to public works in the state in the first five months of the current administration, led by Governor Américo Villareal Anaya. Good relations between the state and the federal government are vital to Tamaulipas’ progress, the governor highlights.

The Tamaulipas administration explained that its goal is to care for the population, particularly those in a vulnerable position. The state government specified that work in the health sector will focus on completing the Madero city hospital, as the center needs to reestablish several services. The hospital will provide medical care in the southern region of the state, the administration said via a press release.

During his visit to Tamaulipas in February 2023, Zoé Robledo, Director General, IMSS, signed an agreement with Villareal to expand the IMSS-Bienestar program in the state, as reported by MBN. Pedro Cepeda Anaya, Head of Public Works in the state, highlighted that a 10% increase in the Tamaulipas budget received from the federal government will allow for important projects that include the construction of the ISSSTE hospital in Tampico and another hospital in San Fernando.

The government will also modernize the high-voltage network lines for the transmission of electric power and will build the Libramiento Gasoducto in Reynosa, the third high port in Matamoros, the Nuevo Laredo customs office and will expand the Reynosa-Pharr International Bridge, while also building 49 Welfare Banks.

Another project, the Mante-Ocampo-Tula highway, will improve connectivity in the state with the El Mante region and neighboring states, with the center of the state and with the Tamaulipas border. The Tamaulipas government highlighted that the highway will be a strategic step for the region and the state as a whole.

“The Ministry of Public Works, in its planning, construction and conservation projects, following the instructions of the federal administration, prioritizes actions that benefit the population that needs these projects the most,” concluded the Tamaulipas government.
