Q: How have customers’ priorities evolved over the past year? Are they now looking beyond visibility toward predictive risk management and operational decision-making?
A: Customers are no longer looking only for real-time visibility. Their priority is using AI and data to anticipate risks and make faster operational decisions before disruptions occur. At Overhaul, we are expanding our predictive analytics capabilities by combining geospatial intelligence, IoT data, and AI within our SaaS platform. This allows our control towers to automate risk analysis while giving operators better tools to detect and neutralize threats before they affect the supply chain. We are also extending these capabilities across cross-border operations to provide the same level of visibility, intelligence, and risk management throughout North America.
Another priority is fighting logistics fraud. We are integrating AI into digital chain-of-custody verification to prevent identity theft, carrier impersonation, and document fraud, building on technologies already being deployed in the United States and expanding them across Latin America.
Q: Overhaul has increasingly focused on fraud prevention, including deceptive pickups and carrier verification. How significant has freight fraud become compared to traditional cargo theft, and how should shippers adapt their security strategies?
A: Freight fraud is becoming as significant as traditional cargo theft because it occurs before a shipment even begins moving. Criminals are increasingly stealing freight through carrier impersonation, false documentation, and shell companies, taking control of a shipment during the digital assignment process rather than intercepting it on the road.
This trend is already well established in the United States, and Mexico must act now to prevent it from becoming equally widespread. At Overhaul, we are addressing this challenge through Freight Verify, which strengthens digital carrier verification before a shipment is dispatched.
Shippers need a two-layer security strategy. The first is rigorous digital verification of carriers and drivers before assigning a load. The second is end-to-end telematics and real-time visibility throughout the journey. Combining these capabilities helps ensure freight is released to trusted operators and significantly reduces the risk of fraud before transportation even begins.
Q: Cargo theft continues to affect Mexico’s highways, particularly along predictable routes and in areas with limited secure parking. How is Overhaul helping customers reduce these risks and strengthen prevention strategies?
A: We focus on prevention through intelligence rather than simply responding after an incident occurs. At Overhaul, we work closely with authorities and leverage our role within the National Association of Vehicle Tracking and Protection Companies (ANERPV) to strengthen logistics security across Mexico. We analyze where cargo theft occurs, how frequently it happens, the time windows, operating methods, and the products most frequently targeted. This intelligence helps identify emerging hotspots and enables both authorities and our customers to adjust routes, schedules, and security measures before an incident takes place.
We also meet regularly with the National Guard and the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT) to review crime trends on the country’s main freight corridors. While theft has declined on some routes, such as the Mexico-Puebla highway, other corridors, including the Mexico 45D through Guanajuato and parts of San Luis Potosi, have become higher-risk areas for cargo such as automotive components, tires, and consumer goods.
By combining geospatial intelligence, predictive analytics, and real-time monitoring, we help customers operate safely even through high-risk corridors while improving the resilience of their supply chains.
Q: Which industries are investing the most in visibility and risk-management technologies, and what unique security challenges do they face?
A: Security investment depends on the value of the cargo and the level of risk each industry faces. Food and beverage accounts for nearly one-third of cargo theft incidents in Mexico because of the high volume of shipments, but individual loads typically have lower values, so security measures are calibrated accordingly. In contrast, electronics, pharmaceuticals, metals, and high-value automotive components require much more robust protection because a single shipment can be worth millions of pesos. These sectors are investing the most in visibility, predictive risk management, and multilayered security technologies to reduce potential losses.
Metals have become particularly vulnerable as international trade dynamics and tariffs have increased their value, making aluminum and steel more attractive to organized crime. Effective security therefore requires understanding not only where theft occurs, but also how stolen goods are redistributed through informal markets, including online platforms. That intelligence helps companies anticipate risks and adapt their security strategies before cargo is targeted.
Q: Cross-border freight flows are becoming increasingly complex. What new risks are you helping customers manage as cargo moves between Mexico and the United States?
A: Cross-border security requires managing risks on both sides of the border. Cargo theft does not stop once a shipment leaves Mexico; criminal activity continues across key US freight corridors, including Texas, Memphis, Chicago, and Southern California. Customers also need to address emerging threats such as carrier impersonation, identity fraud, and shell companies that attempt to take control of shipments before or during transit. These risks make cross-border operations far more complex than traditional cargo theft alone.

A: Geospatial intelligence allows us to understand where, when, and how criminal activity evolves, making prevention far more effective than reacting after an incident. By analyzing spatial patterns, crime frequency, operating methods, and cargo types, we can anticipate risks and recommend preventive measures before a shipment is exposed.
This methodology is universal and allows us to apply the same analytical approach across Mexico, the United States, Brazil, and other markets where we operate. It also supports better coordination between logistics providers, security companies, and authorities by providing a common understanding of emerging threats.
To help professionalize the industry, we have also promoted new certification standards through ANERPV. Standard EC1694 focuses on applying geospatial analysis to international trade and supply chain security, while EC1800 addresses cargo theft, logistics fraud, and asset protection in domestic operations. Together, these standards strengthen the industry’s ability to use data-driven intelligence to protect supply chains.
Q: Which technology and security trends are still underestimated in Mexico but could become major competitive advantages over the next few years?
A: The biggest underestimated trend is the shift from reactive security to AI-driven predictive risk management. AI will transform every stage of logistics by helping companies anticipate disruptions, automate decision-making, and identify risks before they affect operations.
The industry also needs to invest in digital capabilities. Success will increasingly depend on combining human expertise with AI, automation, and data analytics to build smarter, more resilient supply chains. Predictive intelligence can optimize routes, estimate delays, identify high-risk corridors, and improve overall operational planning far beyond traditional cargo security.
North America’s logistics networks will continue to evolve despite trade uncertainty. While tariffs have created challenges for industries such as automotive and metals, Mexico continues to strengthen its position as an export hub for agribusiness, electronics, and intermediate goods. Supporting that growth will require AI-powered risk intelligence and more resilient logistics networks capable of adapting to increasingly complex supply chains.
Q: Risk intelligence relies on processing enormous amounts of data. How do you transform that information into actionable insights that customers can use to make better decisions?
A: The key is to classify and prioritize risk rather than simply collect data. We organize information into categories such as organized crime, geopolitical conflicts, trade policy changes, and other threats that can disrupt supply chains. We then measure how often these events occur, where they happen and what impact they could have on specific trade lanes or industries.
This structured approach allows us to build predictive risk models instead of reacting to isolated incidents. Whether the disruption comes from organized crime in Mexico, geopolitical tensions in the European Union or the Middle East, or changes in global trade policy, we can translate that intelligence into practical recommendations that help customers anticipate disruptions, protect cargo, and make better operational decisions.
Q: How have Overhaul’s priorities evolved throughout the year, and what are the company’s main objectives for the rest of 2026?
A: 2026 has been a successful year for Overhaul. We have continued expanding our operations across North America, South America, the European Union, and Asia while strengthening security programs for some of the world’s largest supply chains.
