MODE Global opened its first Mexico office in Puebla to expand cross-border and intra-Mexico freight services, strengthening its presence in a key automotive and manufacturing hub. The move aims to improve logistics visibility, operational control, and cargo security across North American supply chains.
MODE Global has opened its first office in Mexico, choosing Puebla as the entry point for a broader expansion into cross-border and domestic logistics services. The move positions the US-based third-party logistics provider closer to one of Mexico’s most important manufacturing corridors, at a time when companies are seeking more direct control, visibility, and security across North American supply chains.
The company announced that its new Puebla office will support a growing customer base and accelerate both cross-border and intra-Mexico services through centralized management. According to MODE Global, the facility is a corporately owned and managed office and transportation yard, giving the company direct operational control in the country rather than relying only on local partners. The office began operations on April 15, initially supporting a major automotive customer.
“While the MODE Global network has previously worked closely with local partners to assist customers with cross-border shipments, opening a MODE-controlled office allows our network to provide Mexico-centric services directly to customers,” says Ty LaSalle, Director of National Accounts and Head of the new Mexico office, MODE Global. LaSalle adds that the company’s new intra-Mexico services will complement its existing cross-border solutions and provide customers with stronger visibility over their supply chains.
The Puebla office will provide full over-the-road services, as well as intermodal, air, and ocean transportation. MODE Global says the expansion is designed to improve shipment visibility, streamline processes, and strengthen cargo security, three priorities that have become increasingly important as manufacturers adjust to more complex regional supply chains.
The decision to locate the office in Puebla reflects the state’s strategic role in Mexico’s automotive and manufacturing landscape. The US International Trade Administration identifies Puebla as a key automotive hub in central Mexico, with Volkswagen and Audi operating in the state and supplier networks concentrated near major original equipment manufacturers. Volkswagen also describes its Puebla complex as the location of its headquarters and vehicle and component plants in Mexico, producing models such as the Jetta, Tiguan Long Version, and Taos.
For MODE Global, Puebla offers proximity to high-volume industrial activity while also serving as a bridge between domestic Mexican freight flows and cross-border trade with the United States. The company already describes itself as a US$3.4 billion, multi-brand third-party logistics platform that includes MODE Transportation, SUNTECKtts, and Avenger Logistics. It also identifies itself as the sixth-largest truckload freight brokerage and the largest non-asset intermodal provider in the United States.
MODE’s expansion comes as Mexico continues to gain relevance in North American logistics networks, driven by manufacturing integration, nearshoring strategies, and demand for more resilient supply chains. The company’s existing service portfolio includes truckload, intermodal, ocean, less-than-truckload, parcel, and air transportation, while its broader intermodal network covers the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The new office also marks a shift in how MODE Global plans to serve customers in Mexico. Instead of relying solely on partner networks for cross-border movements, the company is now establishing a physical platform to manage local operations, coordinate domestic shipments, and offer customers more direct service in the Mexican market.
