Multimodal Corridors Are Becoming The New Competitive Advantage
STORY INLINE POST
Q: Omni Logistics has expanded significantly in Latin America, with operations in Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru, and now Brazil. How does Mexico anchor the company’s regional strategy, both as a gateway to the United States and as a driver of intra-Latin American trade?
A: We see Mexico as a natural hub for connecting Latin America with the United States and Asia, and as a key driver of intraregional trade.
On one hand, its geographic proximity and trade agreements with North America make it an ideal platform for nearshoring and the relocation of supply chains. Many companies are moving their operations to Mexico seeking to reduce time, costs, and logistical risks. We further support this process by providing integrated door-to-door solutions.
On the other hand, Mexico also holds a privileged position within the Omni LATAM network because it allows us to boost trade flow between the north and south of the continent, strengthening connections with Chile, Colombia, and Peru. In this sense, it is not only a gateway to the United States, but also a regional convergence points for air, sea, and land logistics.
Mexico is a key piece of our growth in Latin America: an operational, commercial and strategic center that allows us to offer greater efficiency and competitiveness to our clients throughout the region.
Q: Latin America is a diverse region with significant infrastructure gaps, regulatory complexities, and uneven market maturity. What differentiates Omni Logistics’ approach in Mexico compared to other countries in the region?
A: Each country in Latin America has its own pace of logistics development, and we understand that there is no single formula for the entire region. Our approach in Mexico is different because the country offers both a more developed infrastructure, due to strong integration with North America, and an environment conducive to nearshoring.
In Mexico, we are prioritizing a highly integrated model geared toward international trade, with a strong presence in air, land, and sea freight solutions. We distinguish ourselves with value-added services such as warehousing through partners, customs management, and technology applied to supply chain visibility.
In countries like Peru, Colombia, and Chile, we also focus on network development and consolidation. There, we work to strengthen connectivity, optimize local processes, and support productive sectors that demand specialized solutions—such as mining, energy, agribusiness, and infrastructure projects.
Q: This year, which of Omni’s services have been most in demand in Mexico, and what factors are driving this trend? What are the main pain points your customers are facing, whether cost pressures, visibility, compliance, or speed?
A: In Mexico, this year we have seen significant growth in three key areas: expedited cross-border, international air and ocean freight, and local transportation.
The main drivers of this growth are nearshoring and the relocation of manufacturing, especially in sectors such as automotive, electronics, aerospace, and consumer/retail. Companies moving their production or distribution to Mexico need flexible, secure logistics solutions and traceability, and this is where Omni has developed a strong competitive advantage.
Our customers’ pain points are great indicators of where we can step up to better meet their needs and empower their businesses. This year, the main challenges our clients faced were:
-
Cost and time pressures
-
Customer service requests for visibility
-
Increased regulatory compliance
In short, the trend is clear: the Mexican market demands smart logistics, with robust infrastructure, technological support, and immediate response capabilities. This is precisely where we are seeing the strongest demand, and Omni Logistics is prepared to meet those needs for our customers.
Q: Customers across the region increasingly expect seamless visibility and faster execution. How is Omni deploying digital platforms, automation, or AI across its Latin American network, and how are Mexico’s operations leading, or benefiting from, this transformation?
A: Digitalization is an important part of our regional strategy. We are transforming our Latin American network under a model that combines technology, data, and specialized human talent to offer a smarter, more agile, and more predictable logistics experience. This includes using AI as a tool to support Omni’s digital and automation transformation.
In summary, Omni LATAM is evolving into a digital logistics ecosystem where technology doesn't replace, but rather enhances, human responsiveness.
Q: Clients are demanding greener supply chains. How is Omni embedding sustainability into its Latin American operations, and what specific initiatives in Mexico stand out as models for the region?
A: Sustainability is no longer optional in logistics: it's a core factor in companies' competitiveness and reputation. At Omni Logistics, we understand this, which is why we've integrated sustainability as a foundational piece of our regional strategy in Latin America.
Our approach has three dimensions:
-
Operational: reducing emissions in transportation and warehousing.
-
Technological: leveraging digitization to optimize routes and minimize our carbon footprint.
-
Collaborative: working alongside customers, vendors, and partners to develop cleaner logistics solutions.
Furthermore, we have already published our 2025 Sustainability Report, which outlines the actions we are taking, how we are measuring our progress, and how we are integrating sustainability into our business relationships.
Q: With increasing global attention on nearshoring, Mexico has become a focal point for investment and logistics demand. How is Omni positioning its regional network to capture this opportunity, and how do you balance Mexico’s central role with the growth potential of other Latin American markets?
A: Nearshoring is reshaping global logistics and positioning Mexico as a key strategic hub. For Omni Logistics, this represents a historic opportunity to consolidate Latin America as an integrated and competitive region.
In Mexico, we are strengthening operational and technological capabilities through infrastructure expansion and optimized corridors to the United States. Our focus is on delivering end-to-end logistics services, from production origin to final destination in North America.
Mexico serves as the anchor of a broader LATAM network that includes Chile, Peru, Brazil and Colombia. Through this integration and our regional infrastructure, we enable the region to fully capitalize on nearshoring-driven investment and capital flows.
Q: Over the past year, sector dynamics in Mexico have shifted. From your perspective, which industries have shown the most significant change in 2025, and how are these trends reshaping Omni’s growth priorities in Mexico and influencing your broader Latin American strategy?
A: In 2025, manufacturing, automotive, electronics, and consumer goods showed the most significant momentum in Mexico, largely driven by nearshoring and US supply chain reconfiguration. These industries are demanding more integrated, cross-border, and time-sensitive logistics solutions.
As a result, Omni is prioritizing investments in infrastructure, technology, and land corridors connecting Mexico to the U.S. and LATAM.
Q: Latin America faces trade volatility, tariff disputes, and regulatory uncertainty. How does Omni manage these risks across the region, and what lessons have Mexico’s cross-border operations with the US provided for strengthening resilience?
A: Volatility is part of the DNA of international trade, and in Latin America, this reality is amplified by the diverse regulatory, political, and economic landscapes of the countries. We manage these risks with a strategy based on anticipation, diversification, and operational flexibility.
Our priority is to avoid dependence on a single market, route, or client type. We have structured a regional network that can be quickly reconfigured in response to tariff changes, border closures, or regulatory adjustments. The key lies in our multimodal integration capabilities and the synergy among our local teams, who have firsthand knowledge of the specific characteristics of each country.
Cross-border operations between Mexico and the United States have undoubtedly been a great learning experience in resilience. It is one of the most complex routes in the world, where efficiency and regulatory compliance must coexist with very demanding response times.
Thanks to this learning, our Latin American network is now much more resilient, interconnected, and adaptable. We know that uncertainty cannot be eliminated, but it can be managed intelligently. This is precisely one of the greatest values that Omni offers its customers in the region.
Q: Trade patterns in Latin America continue to evolve. This year, which trade routes involving Mexico, whether cross-border with the United States, intra-regional with countries like Colombia, Chile, or Peru, or global lanes, have shown the strongest growth trends, and how is Omni adapting its network to capture these flows?
A: In 2025, the strongest growth was seen on the Mexico–US cross-border corridor, alongside increasing intra-regional flows between Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Chile to support nearshoring supply chains.
We are adapting by strengthening land and multimodal corridors, expanding cross-border capabilities, and integrating regional networks to seamlessly connect Mexico with the rest of Latin America and global lanes.
Q: Global trade uncertainty is prompting companies to rethink supply chains and regional partnerships. How can Mexico leverage this moment to deepen its economic and logistics ties with other Latin American markets, and what role does Omni play in enabling that integration?
A: Mexico can leverage this moment by positioning itself as the operational and logistics gateway that connects North American demand with Latin American supply and production capabilities.
Omni enables this integration by designing end-to-end regional networks, linking Mexico with key LATAM markets, and providing the infrastructure, technology, and partnerships needed to operate resilient, multi-country supply chains.
Q: Looking at the region’s evolving trade and logistics landscape, what is the biggest untapped opportunity in the Mexican market that has yet to be fully realized, and how is Omni positioning itself to capture it?
A: The greatest untapped opportunity in Mexico today is undoubtedly the complete in-depth nearshoring of the logistics business. Omni Mexico is focused on exploring opportunities with nearshoring companies to position the organization towards innovative solutions and impeccable executions, offering complete end-to-end solutions including local and international transportation.
Q: As President for Latin America, how do you see Omni evolving in the region by 2026? What is your vision for transforming the company from a logistics provider into a strategic supply chain partner?
A: Our vision for 2026 is clear: Omni Logistics will no longer be perceived solely as a transportation or international logistics company, but will instead become a true strategic supply chain partner in Latin America.
In 2026 and in the coming years, I envision Omni LATAM as an interconnected network operating with global standards and a regional mindset, capable of adapting to the specific needs of each market without losing strategic coherence.
We also plan to significantly increase our trade lanes solutions and development from/to USA, Europe, Intra-LATAM and Asia. We are dramatically growing our power in international services offering and will continue to adapt our network accordingly.
Most recently, we have incorporated our Miami station as another strategic hub for LATAM. This year in Q1, our Omni Logistics Brazil entity will be fully operational, adding an important country into our own network.
Ultimately, our goal is to transition from simply moving cargo to moving value. We will be the partner that not only delivers logistics solutions but also directly contributes to the growth, competitiveness, and sustainability of each customer’s business. That is the future we are building for Omni Logistics in Latin America.
