Grupo México Gives Up Concession at Pasta de Conchos

The Week in Mining highlights developments around the 14th anniversary of the Pasta de Conchos disaster. Also, Canadian miners with operations in Mexico have strong expectations for 2020.

Grupo México gave up the mining concession where Pasta de Conchos is located, so the federal government can attempt to gather the remains of  65 miners that died in the mine  14 years ago.

 

CAMIMEX celebrated Grupo México’s decision and underlined the industry’s commitment toward a 0 percent accident rate.

 

During a meeting with Mexican congressmen and women, Undersecretary of Mining Francisco Quiroga pointed out that there have been 37 accidents in mines around the country since 2019.

 

Agnico Eagle announced it will invest US$33.9 million in exploration in Mexico in 2020.

Mexican Gold re-commenced field operations at its flagship Las Minas project and announced the termination of the business partnership with New Found Gold.
