Mexican Gold Exports Hit 12-Year High Record

Mexican gold exports grew by 16.2% year-over-year from January to July 2025, with a total value of US$3.397 billion, the highest level for the same period over the past 12 years. In other news, Northwestern University introduced a new plastic upcycling process that could reduce the need for pre-sorting mixed plastic waste by using an inexpensive nickel-based catalyst.

Mexican Gold Exports Hit 12-Year High Amid Record Global Prices

Mexican exports of raw, semi-finished, or powdered gold grew at a 16.2% year-over-year rate from January to July 2025, reaching a total value of US$3.397 billion, the highest level for a comparable period in 12 years. The increase comes amid market uncertainty created by the US government shutdown and potential US interest rate cuts.

Mexican Gold Acquires Tatatila Project in Veracruz

Mexican Gold Mining has announced that together with its subsidiary, Roca Verde Exploración de México, it has signed a mining concessions assignment agreement with Chesapeake Gold. Under the Assignment Agreement, Mexican Gold will acquire 100% of the title and interest in certain mineral concessions covering a total of 3,824.36ha, collectively known as the Tatatila Project in Veracruz.

Chemists at Northwestern University have introduced a new plastic upcycling process that could significantly reduce or even eliminate the need for pre-sorting mixed plastic waste. The process uses a new, inexpensive nickel-based catalyst to selectively break down polyolefin plastics, which include polyethylene and polypropylene.
