Mexican Lithium Industry Attracts More Foreign Investors

Mexican authorities announced that Chinese and South Korean companies are interested in investing in Mexico’s lithium value chain. The Silver Institute said the growing silver demand is associated with global vehicle electrification and state-centered environmental efforts. In addition, Torex Gold announced it will invest around US$5 million in a new solar plant for its Media Luna project.

Mexico Starts Lithium Battery Production in 2023, Ebrard Says

The Mexican Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, announced that Mexico would start the production of lithium batteries in 4Q23, made possible by investment from the country's trade partners and Mexico's recently announced Sonora Plan.

Zacatecas’ Government Strengthens Commercial Ties with Sweden

To attract new investments, the government of Zacatecas is leading efforts to resume commercial relations with Sweden after the pandemic. David Monreal Ávila, the Governor of Zacatecas aims to turn the state into an investment hub and is looking abroad to build tighter relationships with investors.  

Metalla Acquires First Majestic Silver Royalties in Mexico

The Canada-based silver-gold producer First Majestic Silver announced it has entered into a royalty purchase agreement with Metalla Royalty & Streaming, selling the royalties of eight of First Majestic’s Mexican assets. The transaction is valued at US$20 million, to be paid out in shares.  

GR Silver Mining Ended 3Q22 With Important Improvements

The Canada-based junior mining company GR Silver Mining announced it has finished 3Q22 with significant progress at its Plomosas and San Marcial assets in Sinaloa, which reported high-grade silver mineralization.
