Siemens Digital Industries Software has announced its new membership to the Global Battery Alliance (GBA), a collaborative network that brings together key international organizations, NGOs, industry leaders, academics, and governments. The alliance is focused on adopting a pre-competitive approach to drive systemic improvements across the entire battery manufacturing value chain.
The GBA’s goals are to create a circular battery value chain, promote a low-carbon economy, and protect human rights and economic development. By joining the GBA, Siemens aligns with major stakeholders across the battery supply chain, such as material developers, cell suppliers, OEMs, and government agencies, to advocate for a greener and more ethical battery production.
“Joining the Global Battery Alliance is a pivotal step for Siemens in advancing our battery passport ecosystem. This initiative aims to go beyond regulatory compliance, empowering stakeholders to effectively capture, access, and manage data throughout the battery value chain. By partnering with the Global Battery Alliance, we are working to leverage digital transformation to create a battery industry that is not only efficient but also ethical and sustainable,” said Puneet Sinha, Senior Director of Battery Industry, Siemens Digital Industries Software.
The Global Battery Alliance emphasized that Siemens' new membership will significantly advance digital transformation across the entire battery production lifecycle—from initial design and engineering through manufacturing and disposal. “This collaboration will boost efficiency and foster the development of a sustainable battery industry,” said Inga Petersen, Executive Director, Global Battery Alliance.
