TAPPING INTO DURANGO’S WORLD-CLASS DEPOSITS

Mon, 10/22/2018 - 13:15

While Durango only represents 1.3 percent of the country’s GDP, it is one of the most important mining states of the country after Sonora and Chihuahua. The northern state encompasses over 100 projects with a population of only 1.755 million people. It is the fifth most important gold producer in the country and the third largest silver producer. Durango represents 11.7 percent of the national silver production and 9.2 percent of the total gold production. The Mining Fund also allocates 75 percent of its capital to Durango, Chihuahua, Zacatecas and Sonora, considering the role these states play in the mining industry.
