Vizsla Silver Resumes Panuco Field Work After Security Pause
Canada-based junior company Vizsla Silver resumed field work activities at its flagship Panuco project, Sinaloa, following a temporary pause initiated earlier due to security conditions in the state. The company said this pause will not have an impact on the company’s progress in the project.
Vizsla Silver says that the pause, announced on April 4, 2025, was enacted due to security conditions in the area. Security conditions have reportedly normalized, allowing for the restart of operations.
The temporary pause affected contractors engaged in test mine development, geotechnical drilling, and the exploration program, who were placed on standby. However, this voluntary pause did not interfere with ongoing engineering work associated with the feasibility study in progress, and was not expected to materially affect the company’s budget or work program planned for 2025, says Vizsla Silver.
With field work resumed, ongoing programs at Panuco include test mine development, geotechnical drilling, exploration drilling, mapping, and geophysical surveys. Michael Konnert, President and CEO, Vizsla Silver, says that in connection with the restart, all employees, contractors, and consultants completed a Health and Safety refresher course and have returned to their respective project areas.
Konnert says that paused field work allowed the company time to assess the recently announced discovery at Animas and optimize its exploration strategy. He adds that this is supported by ongoing mapping and geophysics around the Copala Resource to prioritize target areas with similar characteristics across the district. Two exploration rigs are currently turning.
“With two exploration rigs turning, and several upcoming potential catalysts including a Feasibility Study, Vizsla Silver is well funded and well positioned to advance Panuco Project 1 and potentially locate Project 2 in 2H25,” says Konnert.
