Vizsla Silver reported the results of 12 drill holes that targeted the recently-discovered La Luisa vein at the Panuco silver-gold project in Sinaloa. The company said the results show the new vein has similar potential to the Napoleon vein. Therefore, the drilling program could lead to the discovery of more high-grade minerals.

In a press release, Vizsla explained that the geology and geochemistry found at the Luisa vein, which is located 700m from the Napoelon vein, suggest the new area has shallow vein levels. In addition, the drilling program revealed that the vein has significant concentrations of gold with little silver and base metals. The company believes that given the results, the vein is analogous to the Gold Rich-Shallow level.

Among the main highlights of the drilling program were the hole NP-22-305, featuring “404g/t silver equivalent over 6.1m³ true widths, [consisting of] 133g/t silver, 3.68g/t gold, 0.17 percent lead and 0.30 percent zinc,” as well as the hole NP-22-303, with “286 /t silver equivalent over 1.00m true width, [consisting of] 49g/t silver, 2.90g/t gold, 0.23  percent lead and 0.70 percent zinc.”

Michael Konnert, President and CEO, Vizsla Silver, said “La Luisa is one of several newly discovered prospects in the western portion of the Panuco District that hosts significant potential to add resources. We have now completed twelve drill holes at La Luisa and are encouraged by similarities shared with the adjacent shallow gold-rich zone at Napoleon. This may indicate that results to date from La Luisa correlate to mineralization higher up in the system, with improved grades and widths remaining at depth. Moving forward we will test this depth potential and determine if La Luisa is as robust as Napoleon.”

The company reported that the next steps are to drill deeper holes into the vein to target its precious metal-rich core. Vizsla said that since the exploration program on the Napoleon vein has been successful, there is a possibility that the new zone will also have higher grades and widths along strike.

The district-scale Panuco epithermal silver-gold vein project covers 9,386.5ha in Sinaloa. The property has a long mining history: Its first silver production occurred in the 16th century and it has been in production intermittently ever since. The project has more than 20 veins, of which several have demonstrated high silver and gold grades. Konnert told MBN that the Panuco project is the consolidation of a district-scale land package, comparable in size and geology to First Majestic’s San Dimas mine.
