Correos de México, Mexicana Partner to Transform Postal Logistics
Correos de México and the airline Mexicana de Aviación have signed a strategic agreement aimed at modernizing the country’s postal system and strengthening national air logistics infrastructure. The initiative began operations in Baja California with the air transport of mail and parcels between Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) and Tijuana International Airport.
“Today we show that two State institutions can come together to improve and transform national logistics infrastructure with a deeply human, efficient, and inclusive approach. This is not just transportation — it is transformation with a social purpose,” says Violeta Abreu, General Director, Correos de México.
Abreu says that this partnership will allow Correos de México to extend its reach, increase its speed, and broaden its impact by integrating with a state-run air logistics network. “We will continue to be the institution that connects homes, families, and communities — but now with the strength of a renewed logistics system and national air infrastructure,” she says.
“This collaboration clearly demonstrates what can be achieved when teamwork serves the people of Mexico. At Mexicana, we are committed to delivering responsible, efficient, and high-quality services. Our work will help optimize Correos de México’s resources, speed up deliveries, and benefit businesses and citizens who trust in our institutions every day,” says Leobardo Ávila, Director General, Mexicana de Aviación.
Ávila says that this strategic alliance plays a key role in national development and aligns with the goals of the Plan México, which promotes investment attraction, business localization, and the formalization of markets.
Mayor of Tijuana Ismael Burgueño praises the initiative for enhancing connectivity and expanding opportunities for micro and small businesses. He says that it positions Tijuana as a key logistics hub, improves national and international parcel and mail delivery, and supports the growth of the local market. “This agreement ultimately strengthens services and fosters economic development for the people of Tijuana,” says Burgueño.
Immediate benefits of the alliance include an estimated 50% reduction in delivery times, reactivation of the national airmail and parcel service, and improved efficiency and coverage with a strong social focus.
This logistics model will be gradually rolled out across the country, with priority given to remote areas where faster delivery times are urgently needed. The alliance will also leverage Correos de México’s extensive national office network to maximize reach.
