New Intermodal Service Between Mexico, United States Unveiled

To address the increase in demand for cross-border services caused by nearshoring, Grupo México Transportes (GMXT), BNSF Railway (BNSF), and J.B. Hunt Transport Services announced a new intermodal service that will connect Nuevo Leon, the Silao-Bajio, and the Pantaco-Mexico City regions to Texas’ Eagle Pass. The new service will turn this gateway into a more sustainable and efficient cross-border transport option.

Grupo México Open to Public-Private Collaboration in Rail Project

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced a decree to turn freight rail tracks in the country into passenger tracks. Thus, GMXT said it is open to collaborate with the government to enhance the transition.

López Obrador Calls for the Swift Completion of Otay Mesa II

During the morning press conference, López Obrador urged US authorities to finish their side of the Otay Mesa II project, which aims to enhance passenger and cargo transportation in the San Diego-Baja California region. The government of Baja California reports that the segment in Mexico will be finished before López Obrador’s term ends. 

FIBRA NEXT Could Launch IPO in Late November

FIBRA NEXT, the industrial-focused spin-off of FIBRA UNO, is set to go public on the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) in late November 2023, following unanimous approval to create a dedicated industrial FIBRA. With a portfolio comprising 54.5% industrial properties, FIBRA NEXT aims to be one of the region's largest FIBRAs. 

Hound Express Operations to Surge 50% in 4Q23

Logistics companies like Hound Express are preparing to address the upcoming year-end festivities, including the “Buen Fin,” Black Friday, Christmas, and Thanksgiving. The company has already created a contingency plan to attend to the expected increase in demand, forecasting a seasonal growth between 45% and 50% for the last quarter of 2023.
