Kuehne+Nagel Expands Cross-Border Logistics in Laredo, Texas
Kuehne+Nagel, a leading global logistics provider, is opening a new Road Logistics facility in Laredo, Texas. The 40,134m² site consolidates three existing cross-dock operations into a single location, effectively doubling the company’s capacity at the critical US-Mexico border.
“The new Laredo facility, which will be fully operational by mid-April 2025, strengthens Kuehne+Nagel’s network at the US-Mexico border, providing customers with increased capacity and enhanced freight movement capabilities,” says Nathan Thomas, Regional Vice President for the Central Area, Kuehne+Nagel US.
The new facility aims to support businesses navigating the complexities of nearshoring. With 200 trailer parking stalls, 115 dock doors, and two drive-in doors, the site is designed for efficient cross-docking, warehousing, transloading, and storage services.
A key feature of the new facility is its 1,625m2 Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ), which provides customers with essential services to manage customs duties and taxes, offering cost efficiencies for cross-border operations. The facility will play a crucial role in facilitating the seamless movement of goods between Mexico and the United States, addressing the increasing demand for robust and flexible logistics solutions in the region.
"We are committed to helping customers harness the full potential of the global nearshoring trend and to serving the cross-border market as part of our growth strategy. Despite current challenges in global trade, we are confident nearshoring will continue, as it helps customers enhance supply chain resilience, reduces costs, and speeds up distribution," says Thomas.
