Maersk, a global leader in logistics and container shipping, has unveiled a new state-of-the-art logistics facility in El Paso, Texas, marking a significant expansion in its North American operations and boosting cross-border trade with Mexico.

“The opening of the El Paso facility is a milestone for Maersk in North America, as it reinforces our commitment to serving customers’ cross-border and less-than-truckload needs. Maersk’s ambition is to be the integrator of logistics, and this strategic move enables us to provide customers with an expanded product portfolio, encompassing ocean services, warehousing and distribution and landside transportation, tailored to the intricacies of cross-border trade,” says Gordon Branov, Head of LTL, FTL and Linehaul, Maersk North America.

This 37,358m2 facility is strategically positioned just five minutes from the Ysleta-Zaragoza International Bridge, a crucial trade gateway between Mexico and the United States. The new facility is located near the Ysleta Port of Entry, the largest commercial port in the El Paso district, providing a pivotal link for northbound goods from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua.

The new Maersk facility boasts 73 dock doors, two ramps for handling oversize cargo, and 116 truck yard spaces, designed to streamline the receiving, separation, and consolidation of goods. This facility is equipped with advanced security measures, including 24-hour surveillance and a fully fenced yard, ensuring the safety and integrity of cargo.

This facility serves as a key component of the company’s ground freight network, offering comprehensive solutions for cross-border and less-than-truckload (LTL) needs. The site includes an 7,432m2 Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) and a customs bonded warehouse, allowing customers to defer duty payments and store goods without incurring additional costs.

The El Paso facility is compliant with the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) and holds ISO 9001:2015 certification. The warehousing services offered at this site cater to diverse industries, including automotive, healthcare, retail, and technology. Services encompass cargo sorting, storage, cross-docking, inventory management, order fulfillment, and a range of value-added solutions such as reverse logistics, kitting, and vendor management.

Maersk’s extensive network includes over 150 warehousing facilities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, totaling more than 2.4 million m2. The El Paso opening follows the March launch of a new warehouse in Tijuana, Baja California
