Digital Maturity: Driving the O&G Efficiency Frontier
STORY INLINE POST
Q: How has ROGII transitioned from being primarily a software provider to become a strategic partner in the projects it supports?
A: ROGII has been in the market for 13 years, and from the very beginning, we have been a technology developer. All our solutions are proprietary software technologies. One of ROGII’s core objectives is to lead in data management by leveraging AI and automation to improve processes across the oil and gas industry.
Our evolution has been rapid. In the United States, ROGII is now the leading provider of real-time well geonavigation technology and data-driven automation solutions that support timely decision-making. In Argentina, we hold virtually the entire market share.
In Mexico, we have been operating for nearly nine years, steadily growing and adapting our solutions to meet the specific needs of the local market. This has required developing platforms that go beyond off-the-shelf products, tailoring them to the operational realities of our clients. Currently, we are working on strategic projects focused on optimizing drilling operations, reducing non-productive time (NPT), and lowering costs through better utilization of available data.
Q: Which of your products or solutions have been the most successful in the Mexican market?
A: One of our most successful solutions is our real-time geosciences software, which enables real-time interpretation and decision-making during drilling operations. However, the true value does not come from a single product, but from integration.
Our main differentiator has been the integration of data and workflows into a single platform. This allows multidisciplinary teams to work collaboratively, with everyone from senior management to the wellsite geologist accessing the same information in real time. This shared visibility enables faster, more informed decisions and has been a key factor in the success of our solutions in Mexico.
Q: In Mexico, client´s strategy is increasingly focused on maximizing production from mature fields under tighter budget constraints. How important are data and advanced analytics in extracting greater value from Mexico’s geology under these conditions?
A: Data and advanced analytics are fundamental. Their objective is to reduce geological uncertainty and, just as importantly, to optimize production and operations to reduce time and costs. With smaller budgets, efficiency becomes critical. Data allows operators to take efficient and better decisions.
Mexico has a diverse and resource rich geology. Many reservoirs that were once considered easy are no longer straightforward to develop. As a result, conventional methods are often no longer sufficient. Advanced technologies are required, but they must also be environmentally responsible.
ROGII’s solutions are purely software based. We do not introduce physical tools into the wellbore. Our impact is on decision making, cost reduction, and target optimization, all without adding environmental risk. This allows operators to increase production while maintaining a lower environmental footprint.
Q: What environmental benefits do ROGII’s solutions generate alongside the economic advantages?
A: One of our key strengths is that we can achieve results comparable to, or better than, those obtained with downhole tools, but without deploying physical equipment. This reduces transportation requirements, personnel exposure, operational complexity, and environmental impact.
Working remotely also lowers costs and minimizes risk. Instead of mobilizing equipment and specialists to the wellsite, much of the analysis and decision support can be done remotely through our platforms. This significantly reduces the overall footprint of operations while maintaining high performance.
Q: What potential do you see in the Mexican market, both within oil and gas and in other sectors?
A: As a software development company, our capabilities are inherently cross sector. We have a team of over 200 software developers working continuously on data management, data science, AI, and machine learning. This allows us to adapt our technology to a wide range of industries. Our strategic focus remains fully on oil and gas. This is where our domain expertise is deepest and where we see the most immediate opportunity to create value.
Q: What are ROGII’s main goals for 2026, and are there plans to expand into other markets?
A: Our primary goal in Mexico is to become the leading provider of real time geosciences services and drilling optimization solutions. This includes well positioning, drilling efficiency, and operational support. Leadership for us means not only market presence, but also quality and reliability.
We place great emphasis on our people. Our teams are made up of highly experienced geoscience and drilling specialists with many years of field experience. Delivering high quality service and staying at the forefront of global technological standards are central to our strategy.
Looking ahead, growth and expansion are certainly part of our vision but always grounded in maintaining technical excellence and providing tangible value to our clients.
ROGII develops software technology for real-time analytics and AI/ML-driven data automation, enabling integrated geoscience and drilling operations in the upstream oil and gas industry. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the company is best known for its flagship platform, StarSteer, which supports approximately 60% of all horizontal wells drilled worldwide, improving well placement accuracy, reducing non-productive time (NPT), and enhancing operational efficiency.
