CNH gave Iberoamericana de Hidrocarburos authorization this week to spud three onshore exploratory wells, Sabinito Sur-101EXP, Aquiles-201EXP and Llano Blanco-1001EXP, at a play located on the border of between the states of Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas, just over 50km southwest of Reynosa. Here, Iberoamericana de Hidrocarburos expects to find 13.6MMboe.

The Sabinito Sur-101EXP prospect falls under an exploration plan approved by CNH through resolution CNH.E.73.003/18 on Dec. 20, 2018, corresponding to license CNH-R02-L03-BG-01/2017. The 99.25km2 contractual area is located in the municipalities of Doctor Coss, General Bravo and Camargo in Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas. The objective of the well is to test and evaluate the Eocene Wilcox Formation and incorporate prospective resources within the BG-01 Contract Area. Iberoamericana intends to drill to a total depth from 3,466m to 3,500m. The expected hydrocarbon is wet gas. Prospective resources at average risk are estimated at 3.4MMboe, with a probability of geological success of 16 percent. Drilling and completion programs will take a projected total of 79 days: 48 days for drilling and 31 days for completion.

The drilling of the Aquiles-201EXP well is considered part of the exploration plan approved via resolution CNH.E.69.001/18 of Dec. 6, 2018, which falls under Contract CNH-R02-L03-BG-04/2017. The 199.26km2 contractual area is located in the municipalities of Mendez and Reynosa, Tamaulipas. The geological objective of the well is to target the Oligocene marine cold formation. Drilling will go to a total depth around 3,000m. Once again, the expected hydrocarbon is wet gas. Prospective resources at average risk are estimated at 5.5MMboe. The probability of geological success is 32 percent. Drilling and completion for this well foresees a program of 58 days: 27 days for drilling and 31 days for completion.

Finally, the Llano Blanco-1001EXP well is the continuation of an individual scenario from the exploration plan approved by the CNH on Feb. 25, 2019 under resolution CNH.E.73.003/18. The contractual area spans 99.25km2, and is located once again in the municipalities Doctor Coss, General Bravo and Camargo. The geological objective of the well seeks to exploit the Eocene Wilcox Formation. Iberoamericana plans to drill to a total depth of around 3,500m and the expected hydrocarbon is wet gas. Prospective resources at average risk are estimated at 4.77 MMboe, with the probability of geological success put at 27 percent. Drilling and completion programs for the well are expected to take a total of 77 days: 46 days for drilling and 31 days for completion.
