Naturgy to Invest MX$276 Million in Aguascalientes
Spanish energy company Naturgy will invest MX$276 million in Aguascalientes to establish operations in the state, the government announced during a meeting with Governor Tere Jiménez as part of her investment tour in Spain.
Naturgy, Latin America’s largest natural gas distributor, plans to build a City Gate in the northern part of the state during the first phase of the project to expand natural gas supply to local industry. A natural gas City Gate is where gas moves from a transmission pipeline into the local distribution system, which then supplies gas to homes, businesses, and industries.
Governor Jiménez said her administration is committed to creating the conditions investors need to succeed, including labor peace, security, infrastructure, skilled labor and connectivity.
“Thank you for trusting Aguascalientes and for contributing to its economic and industrial development,” Jiménez told Naturgy executives.
The company, which has a presence in 25 countries and serves 16 million customers globally, is positioning its investment as a strategic move to support the growing industrial base in central Mexico. “With this project, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainable development, energy innovation, and creating conditions that drive the economic growth of Aguascalientes,” reads Naturgy Mexico’s statement about the project on its Linkedin page.
