Q: How would you describe Fueltrax’s role in Mexico’s oil and gas sector today, particularly with key players like PEMEX?

A: Fueltrax’s main service in Mexico is its Electronic Fuel Management System, which is designed to optimize fuel usage and minimize environmental impact. By utilizing highly precise sensors and advanced software, the system helps ensure the accurate transfer of fuel, reducing CO2 emissions and improving vessel performance. This solution has been particularly beneficial for PEMEX, which sought a system to prevent fuel theft and unauthorized manipulation. Fueltrax provides the only secure, tamper-proof system for fuel management, which is now installed on over 30 vessels contracted by PEMEX.

Fueltrax provides three key benefits to PEMEX. First, it ensures fuel security by preventing theft and discrepancies during fuel loading and consumption. The system offers precise data, reducing disputes and penalties. Second, it improves fuel efficiency by optimizing fuel consumption based on real-time data, considering factors like load, speed, and weather conditions. This leads to reduced fuel costs. Third, Fueltrax helps lower CO2 emissions by enabling more efficient fuel use, aligning with global efforts to monitor and regulate carbon emissions from maritime operations.

Q: How does Fueltrax enhance safety and operational efficiency for crews?

A: Fueltrax enhances safety by protecting crews from being involved in illegal fuel practices, such as piracy or illegal fuel transfers, which can be a concern in high-risk regions. The system's tamper-proof nature ensures that crews are not coerced into compromising practices, providing them with a secure operating environment. Additionally, the system allows vessel captains to make informed decisions on fuel usage and engine optimization, further reducing risks and ensuring the vessel operates efficiently.

Q: How would you evaluate the adoption of advanced systems, such as the ones you manage, in relation to cost control and regulation?

A: Technology adoption aligns with the regulatory and operational efficiency needs of the sector. Our system, designed by NASA engineers and experts in the oil and maritime industries, enables remote monitoring of fuels with minimal human intervention, reducing failures and ensuring accuracy in volumetric control.

Regarding regulation, in Mexico, volumetric control is required, especially for gasoline and diesel. With Fueltrax, the information generated is automatically accurate and tamper-proof, allowing for more efficient compliance with SAT regulations. Additionally, this system helps companies to manage their CO2 emissions and meet carbon footprint reduction commitments, facilitating the purchase of carbon credits, if necessary.

In this way, Fueltrax not only contributes to regulatory compliance but also allows for more efficient management of operational costs by minimizing errors and deviations, which is essential in such a regulated industry.

Q: Given the current administration’s focus on strengthening PEMEX and achieving energy self-sufficiency, how do you see Fueltrax contributing to these national energy goals?

A: The recent plan presented by President Sheinbaum outlines PEMEX’s continued role as both an operator and a competitor in collaboration with private companies. This is a positive step in strengthening PEMEX's technological capacity and competitiveness. Across all scenarios, the key goal is cost optimization, performance improvement, and process efficiency.

Fueltrax supports these objectives by optimizing fuel consumption and reducing operational costs in offshore operations, as well as in land-based extraction, production, and distribution. Our systems improve efficiency by monitoring and reducing fuel use, thus lowering production and logistics costs. The same system can be applied to land-based operations, storage facilities, and even offshore platforms, measuring any type of fluid for accuracy in quality, volume, and temperature.

Fueltrax’s technology also allows remote monitoring via satellite, offering independent system control. This ensures operational certainty, especially in remote locations such as offshore platforms, pipelines, and distribution centers, where regular human presence may be limited. Our portable system is designed for easy deployment in such areas, ensuring accurate fuel management with minimal human intervention.

The Fueltrax system can also be adapted to drilling operations, measuring key metrics like density and flow, further enhancing efficiency and transparency. Regardless of the operational model or the scenario within the national energy plan, Fueltrax can contribute by providing data-driven insights to reduce costs and improve productivity.

Q: What are your objectives for 2025?

A: Our main goal for 2025 is to establish an operations center in Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche. This will allow us to provide more personalized services to our clients. Our aim is to offer real-time insights and deeper analysis of vessel performance, enabling better communication with crews and enhancing the overall support for offshore operations in Mexico.

We are also planning a pilot project with PEMEX, focusing on advanced human analytics rather than AI-driven systems. Our “Human Intelligence” approach ensures data accuracy and reliability, offering actionable insights that AI alone cannot provide. This system will be available at no cost to PEMEX and vessel operators as part of our commitment to enhancing their operational efficiency.

Finally, we aim to expand beyond offshore operations, exploring other sectors within the oil and gas industry in Mexico where our technology can improve efficiency in the generation, distribution, and processing of hydrocarbons. This system service will be available, initially, at no cost to PEMEX and vessel operators as part of our commitment to enhancing their operational efficiency.

Fueltrax is a smart, self-contained fuel management solution to meet the challenges facing today’s commercial marine operators. It standardizes the acquisition, secure transfer, tracking, and analysis of accurate, reliable fleet-wide performance data for any type of vessel, fuel, engine or location.
