Q: Why should clients choose PetroleRFS when planning for characterization and modeling activities?

A: The company is at the vanguard of technological development and can model the latest industry issues, which allows us to be receptive to client demands and sustain our operations. Furthermore, having a technical support team working around the clock globally enables the company to answer clients quickly.

Moreover, when clients want to evaluate new technologies, strategies or plans, we have the capacity to make models and carry out analysis to simulate these ideas rapidly and avoid exceeding pre-established delivery times.

Q: How successful has the application of the tNavigator software been in Mexico?

A: tNavigator has gained a great response from our clients and the number of users has increased steadily since its implementation in Mexico. They are very satisfied with the functionality of the tool to improve their numerical simulation studies, adding cases of successful studies and recommending it to other companies.

Q: What partnerships has the company formed in Mexico?

A: The strongest alliance that PetroleRFS has is with the manufacturer of tNavigator, which is Rock Flow Dynamics. Together, we aim to develop the business in Mexico. Both companies have made an effort to grow the number of users of this technology. PetroleRFS, as a representative of the company in Mexico, is in charge of following up and communicating the requirements and suggestions of the users so that the developers can implement them. This has led us to build bonds with important clients, including PEMEX.

Q: How has the increase in oil production impacted the demand for offshore services?

A: In Mexico, we have been overcoming the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crisis. Nonetheless, in other countries, the number of clients has increased. The rise in oil production and prices have led to an increase in both onshore and offshore activities. Right now, companies are working with larger budgets, so they are faster in making the decision to invest in a new technology that will help them make their processes more efficient.

Q: What are some of the most frequent consulting solutions that generally apply to Mexico?

A: In Mexico, the assets we work with most frequently are naturally fractured reservoirs. Mexican clients ask us for advanced solutions to model these types of reservoirs. They want us to provide flexibility and potential solutions to the problems that may come about. Nevertheless, each reservoir and field behaves differently. Naturally fractured reservoirs are the most common and have the highest production in Mexico, so that is why it is of high interest to model them with greater certainty.

Q: How are you contributing to the exploration efforts at PEMEX’s priority fields and what opportunities do you see for further growth?

A: PetroleRFS has contributed positively for the NOC. PEMEX needs to accurately analyze its subsurface models to design its development plans for these priority fields, and that is where we contribute by building static and dynamic models for different reservoirs or fields that clients want to develop. We then simulate different strategies to optimize production behavior and maximize the quantity of oil recovered. Therefore, when clients make their economic evaluations, they can determine the best way to develop the project and optimize their business plan.

PetroleRFS’ tools help customers analyze different strategies, evaluate the number of wells they can drill, propose where they can drill and calculate their economic indicators. From there, they can decide whether it would be more profitable to develop a new prospect, continue an existing development or look at implementing new technologies in strategic assets or mature fields.

Q: How have you innovated your solutions to collect more precise data and ease the transition from exploration to development and production?

A: Additional functions have been developed for the tool, which encompasses more areas. It now has more flexibility and integration within a single platform, where we can manage everything from the exploration process to the integration of new data for development and production. This avoids the issue of data loss and has the added benefit of keeping all information ordered. tNavigator includes new functions and more advanced tools, integrating workflows in Python. Moreover, options have been developed to analyze and evaluate the industry’s advanced technologies, which were previously very difficult to model.

Petroleum Rock and Fluids Services (PetroleRFS) offers integral consulting services in geological characterization, numerical reservoir modeling and production optimization analysis. It represents Rock Flow Dynamics and provide tNavigator software in Mexico.
