President Claudia Sheinbaum dismissed reports of widespread fuel shortages in Mexico, insisting that supply remains secure despite recent disruptions in several regions. Speaking at her morning conference, the president said there is no shortage of gasoline nationwide and attributed delays to transport and logistical setbacks.

“It is more of a transportation issue, which is already being resolved,” Sheinbaum said, adding that tanker trucks acquired by the military in 2019 will now be transferred to PEMEX to strengthen distribution.

The state oil company reinforced Sheinbaum’s message. “There is no shortage of gasoline, supply is guaranteed.” PEMEX said incidents last week in Nuevo Leon, Chiapas and the Valley of Mexico were tied to maintenance adjustments that have since been fully addressed. According to the company, deliveries have been normalized across the country.

The NOC also highlighted that domestic production of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel has grown 47% so far this year, rising from 466Mb/d to 685Mb/d. The company said it maintains permanent monitoring of the fuel network to ensure supply and act quickly on any disruptions, reaffirming its role as guarantor of Mexico’s energy sovereignty and its commitment to stable fuel prices under the National Energy Strategy.
