Q: How has the expansion of  your service lines progressed since our last interview, and in what other ways has Consultec evolved over the past two years?

A: Consultec consolidated itself as a technical and operational partner for E&P companies and oilfield service providers in Mexico, Colombia, and Peru, where we are reopening operations, as well as Suriname, where we are preparing to open an office. Our competitive approach has been to support operators and contractors in strengthening their operational efficiency, reliability, and productivity. We achieve this by integrating specialized personnel into their projects under flexible, high-responsiveness models. In two months, we will mark eighteen years of operating in Mexico and 16 in Colombia.

In Mexico, we have supported the natural gas segment, working with companies such as Jaguar and Pantera, whom we have accompanied in drilling activities since 2020. In the EPC sector, we have submitted several proposals and participated in various projects. We recently signed an agreement with SGS to provide engineering services for their projects starting next year. These and other strategic alliances, which we can discuss later, have strengthened our ability to serve the full oil and gas lifecycle and broaden the value we offer clients.

We acquired a well-service company in the United States this year through a partnership. Retaining talent and creating added value remain priorities. Our database now includes more than 10,000 profiles in drilling, completions, production, geosciences, construction, HSE, technology, and facilities. We have strengthened this database with local talent in both Mexico and Colombia.

We signed a contract with Noble and Hornbeck where we allocated over 120 Colombian consultants successfully. Additionally we have a proprietary tool called Consulteam, which features an AI-powered chat that allows consultants to perform technical inquiries and resolve operational issues.

Our teams follow a strict safety-first culture. Personnel, especially in drilling and completions, are empowered to halt operations if conditions are unsafe. Supported by our HSE, IT, and physical security systems, we ensure continuity and full compliance. This has built long-term relationships rooted in trust, transparent costs, measurable deliverables, open communication, and 24-hour support.

Q: Consultec covers nearly the entire oil and gas value chain. What major changes are you seeing in terms of operations, service demand, and activity levels? How have you adjusted to lower demand, and what level of activity do you currently perceive?

A:  Unfortunately, the financial strain faced by PEMEX has affected contractors. Delayed payments from the NOC have reduced activity because companies that depend on state contracts have been impacted. As a result, project levels declined over the past year and the year before, mainly due to constrained investment.

However, recent developments are encouraging. Payments are being processed, and the company is working to catch up. The government has also announced its 2026–2035 strategy, which includes mixed-model field allocations and anticipates greater investment. We therefore expect clearer momentum heading into 2026 and will evaluate conditions during the first quarter. Despite the downturn, we have maintained our main clients. Our largest projects with Fieldwood, Jaguar, and our contract with Halliburton remain active.

With Engie, we have completed work related to Dinteco’s optimization equipment and have additional installations planned for next year. We also executed a small project with Harbour and expect two additional phases. Strategic alliances continue to help us identify opportunities in adjacent areas, including energy, such as the wind sector supported by our Dinteco equipment.

We believe the first half of next year may still present challenges, but we expect conditions to improve afterward. The country cannot halt its progress. Natural gas development in particular will continue to require investment. We are optimistic about reaching a stronger 2026.

Q: Can you tell us more about your diversification into the electrical and broader energy sector through your partnership with Dinteco?

A: We established a partnership two years ago with Dinteco, a Spanish company, through our technological ally Lightning Guard. Our first installation was undertaken with Engie almost two years ago at the Mayakán 2 plant, and the results have been very positive. In nearly 21 months, the site has not experienced a single direct or indirect lightning event affecting its equipment, which means the project has already paid for itself.

We began working with Dinteco in the oil and gas segment, but we are now moving into the wind sector as well. We recently attended the Energy Congress in Tampico, where we met with the energy ministries of Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas. We have already scheduled meetings to present this technology. Although relatively new for wind applications, the technology itself has been on the market for 21 years and is proven internationally. Our goal is to introduce it more widely in Mexico and protect critical equipment.

Unlike conventional lightning rods, which attract lightning and channel it to the ground, often damaging electrical equipment, sensors, or SCADA systems, Dinteco’s technology uses ionization to balance negative and positive charges. It continuously releases smaller discharges, preventing the buildup that leads to large strikes. This protects both the environment and ground installations. With our D-Field filters, we also prevent damage from ground-propagated currents originating from nearby unprotected structures, which can destroy control rooms, electrical boards, and sensors.

We offer a 99% guarantee, leaving a 1% margin for natural variability, and our installations are backed by a €3 million insurance policy. In 21 years, no claim has ever been made. We expect to complete our first wind-sector installation in Mexico next year and will continue advancing this technology in the country.

Q: What is your vision for Mexico regarding local talent and its continued development?

A: Our greatest asset is our people, and we have focused on strengthening their capabilities. We recently launched Consultec’s Corporate University, which is organized into four schools. The first focuses on technical training. The second covers QHC. The third develops soft skills. The fourth introduces new team members to Consultec, including our values, mission, objectives, and certifications. In Mexico, for example, we hold integrated ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications and are registered with REPSE.

Through Corporate University, we reinforce technical knowledge. We currently have 1300 registered users, including employees and clients. We offer more than 35 certified courses, and we have already delivered over 6,000 training sessions. One of our clients in Mexico has a catalog of 23 mandatory courses for all suppliers. Fourteen of those are already included in our Corporate University and officially endorsed by the client. This allows us to certify our personnel directly through these programs.

All of this was developed with the objective of supporting the growth of our team, which now exceeds 700 people. It gave us the foundation to create our own university, and we are now working on external alliances to offer corporate, technical, and soft skill training to our clients as well. It is our first major effort in this direction, and we maintain it because our people come first.

From a broader perspective, we also prioritize social responsibility and sustainability. Our first comprehensive 2024 report is available on our website. These efforts help us to address the main challenges in Mexico, particularly logistical challenges for both onshore and offshore operations. The geographic dispersion of operations led us to expand our presence with offices in Ciudad del Carmen, Villahermosa, and Mexico City, ensuring proximity to our workforce and our clients.

There are also regulatory challenges. We recently completed our second REPSE certification in record time, after the initial three year period. Many companies were unable to complete the process, but we succeeded. We also maintain compliance with safety standards and national content requirements, which are essential. All of these aspects are tied to the development of our people. A defining characteristic of our company is our ethics. Regardless of a client’s financial situation, we meet all obligations to our personnel and to the government, including fiscal and regulatory compliance.

Q: What is your main objective or your most important project for the upcoming year?

A: For the coming year, our priority is to strengthen our position in the energy sector. We intend to continue expanding our participation in EPC. Engineering is one of our strongest areas, and we are forming an alliance with a major Mexican company to provide comprehensive engineering services.

Our growth is not limited to Mexico. We reopened operations in Peru last month, and we are now expanding into Suriname with a new office. However, our primary focus remains here. We are moving further into energy and EPC, and we are finalizing an agreement with a global representative of several major brands in valves, compressors, and piping. They want us to serve as their representative in Mexico, and we expect to formalize this partnership in the first quarter, which will allow us to open a new service line.

All of this will move forward while maintaining our core strengths: personnel services, headhunting, specialized technical support, and engineering projects.
