AMLO Has COVID but is Doing Well

AMLO’s condition. Olga Sánchez Cordero, head of the Ministry of the Interior (SEGOB), took charge of daily morning press conference after President Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirmed he had contracted COVID-19. Sánchez discussed the regular Monday items, like the gasoline report and showed the video progress reports from infrastructure projects like the Mayan train. Speaking to the president’s condition, she said he is doing well. “We can say with sincerity and frankness that he is well. He is strong and he is solving and attending to public affairs. The president is stable and will soon recover. He is optimistic, he is a responsible president, an example to follow, a leader who inspires us and, in a few days, he will be with us to continue with the mandate.”

Meeting with Putin. Olga Sánchez said that even though the president has COVID-19, he would hold his scheduled meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss Russia’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine that would be arriving in Mexico. The meeting took place at 8 a.m.
