AMLO’s recuperation. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador made his first public appearance since contracting COVID-19. “I want to thank the many friends from abroad and all the people of Mexico who expressed their desire for me to recover and move forward. I thank them for their blessings, their prayers, their good vibes, their good wishes. And as José Martí said: love pays with love. We are back on our feet and in the struggle, we are going to continue with the transformation.”

AMLO talked about his treatment, saying his health team was “trying certain treatments and they began to apply antivirals on Monday and anti-inflammatories and, fortunately, it had good results.”

COVID-19 vaccines. The president stated that there would be more Pfizer vaccines arriving in Mexico from Feb. 10. The AstraZeneca vaccine is also being produced in Mexico. They are being packaged and there will be enough doses, he said.

Mexico’s Economy. AMLO also addressed that economy. He estimated that the Mexican economy would see growth of 5 percent in 2021. “We are no longer losing jobs; on the contrary, jobs were recovered in January, they are recovering in February. We do not have the problem of a depreciation of the peso.”
