AMLO’s March/Shootings in Nuevo Laredo

AMLO’S March. President López Obrador said he is thankful for the generosity of the people who marched by his side to celebrate four years of a continuous “fourth transformation.”

According to Mexico City’s government, around 1.2 million people joined the march in support of MORENA.

Shootings in Nuevo Laredo. President López Obrador announced that a criminal leader was detained in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas causing shootings and confrontations. Moreover, he said the criminal was taken to Mexico City at 4:30 a.m.

On Monday, different firearm detonations were reported in Nuevo Laredo. As a consequence, the US consulate released an alert for people to stay in a safe place while Nuevo Laredo´s mayoress, Carmen Lilia Canturosas, decided to suspend school for elementary children.

Basic food products. The Federal Consumer Agency PROFECO said that the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) for food and beverage is decreasing and that the basic food basket has also shown a continuous decrease in its costs.

Moreover, President López Obrador assured that industrial and commercial companies  are complying with the plan against inflation that was signed with the private sector. The strategy aims to keep the cost of the basic food basket at MX$1,039 (US$53.78). In addition, López Obrador reported that next Monday he will showcase what companies are following the agreement.

AMLO will meet USDA Secretary. President López Obrador reported he will be meeting today with Tom Vilsack, Secretary of Agriculture, to discuss issues in agriculture.
