No more morning conference? President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that there would no longer be a morning press conference. But it was only a joke. “There is certain, truthful news, there is objectivity in the media, so we no longer need to be reporting every morning. We are just going to have a weekly press conference. It will be on Wednesdays at 12 noon,” he said, before making it clear that it was a joke. In Mexico, Dec. 28 is the Holy Innocents' Day, which is the country’s equivalent of April Fools’ Day.

COVID-19 vaccine for the private sector. AMLO said that the vaccine distribution plan includes those who are working in the private healthcare sector. “It is going to be applied to doctors, nurses and health workers in the public and private sectors who treat COVID-19, although private hospitals do not have that many beds. In any case, those who work and treat COVID-19 in private hospitals will have the vaccine.” He also stated that he is not opposed to private groups and companies selling vaccines, but that will only happen when there are more vaccines in the market. So far, no private groups or companies have made the request to import vaccines.

Condolences after Armando Manzanero’s death. The great Mexican composer Armando Manzanero passed away today due to COVID-19. AMLO gave his condolences. “It's an unfortunate thing. He was a sensitive man, a man of the people; that is why I am very sorry for his death. He was also a great composer. Also, to the representative authors and composers from Mexico, we send our condolences and our embrace to their families, friends, and to artists for this regrettable loss for the artistic world and Mexico.”
