US Denials of Extradition Requests. President Sheinbaum revealed that the US government has denied multiple requests from Mexico to detain individuals under domestic investigation, citing a lack of evidence to take legal action. She noted that these denials include high-profile cases, such as two individuals allegedly linked to the Ayotzinapa investigation. She emphasized that the United States maintains a strict requirement for proof within its legal framework, a standard that Mexico will also observe in bilateral judicial cooperation.
Denial of CIA Operations Against Drug Cartels. President Sheinbaum categorically denied reports suggesting that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is conducting independent operations within Mexican territory to eliminate members of organized crime. She described such claims as false and emphasized that any activities performed by United States agencies in the country must be specifically permitted and strictly governed by the Constitution and the National Security Law.
Unauthorized CIA Presence in Chihuahua. President Sheinbaum characterized the reported presence of CIA agents during an anti-drug operation in Chihuahua on April 19, 2026, as a violation of the Constitution and the National Security Law. The Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR) has launched an investigation to clarify the facts, which includes interviewing personnel from the state prosecutor's office and other government agencies in Chihuahua. She stated that while the state government is conducting its own inquiry, FGR will ultimately determine the legal responsibilities regarding this breach of sovereignty.
Pacification and Humanitarian Aid in Chilapa. President Sheinbaum announced that the federal government is prioritizing dialogue and social development to establish peace in Chilapa, Guerrero, following the displacement of residents by criminal groups. Minister of the Interior (SEGOB) Rosa Icela Vega and state authorities are personally managing the crisis, which has already seen the removal of road blockades and the deployment of the National Guard (GN) to deliver food and medical supplies. The president emphasized that the objective is to maintain a permanent federal and state presence to address the complex local dynamics involving criminal cells, social organizations, and community guards.
Set Date for Olinia Manufacturing. Minister of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (SECIHTI) Rosaura Ruiz and Project Director Roberto Capuano presented the prototype of Olinia, a 100% Mexican-developed electric vehicle (EV). The project, which has been in execution for 18 months, aims to provide families with a sustainable, safe, and affordable transportation alternative. The official presentation is scheduled for June 7, with mass production expected to begin in 2027.
Housing Deliveries in Tabasco. Governor of Tabasco Javier May; Minister of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development Edna Vega; and Director of the National Housing Fund for Workers (INFONAVIT) Octavio Romero delivered 64 homes in Comalcalco, Tabasco. Officials reported that the state has reached 68% of its housing target, leading to an increase in the sexennial goal from 44,500 to 60,000 homes. This housing program has successfully generated 80,000 direct jobs in the region.
Controlled Sinking of the Onjuku Vessel in Tamaulipas. Governor of Tamaulipas Américo Villarreal and Minister of Environment Alicia Bárcena led the controlled sinking of the former Japanese vessel Onjuku to bolster the artificial reef system in Tamaulipas. The project, supported by a donation from the government of Japan, aims to regenerate marine ecosystems and provide a sanctuary for local aquatic life.
