COVID-19 vaccine. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said there was a possibility that the AstraZeneca vaccine would arrive earlier than expected in Mexico after Deputy Minister of Health Hugo López-Gatell’s visit to Argentina to discuss getting more vaccines. “It was planned for March. We will have it possibly by the end of February and it is a considerable amount,” López Obrador said. Russia’s “Sputnik V” vaccine is also becoming more of an option for Mexico. The results from tests have been positive and there have already been discussions to get doses for Mexico, according to AMLO.

Trump’s social media. The president addressed the current situation in the US regarding Donald Trump. López Obrador said he was happy that Trump had promised an orderly and peaceful transition on Jan. 20. AMLO also talked about Trump being banned from Instagram and Facebook. “I felt (Instagram and Facebook showed) great arrogance, great arrogance. These latest events should concern and worry us and people should always be allowed to be informed, that the right to information is guaranteed.”

Governor of Oaxaca tests positive. AMLO mentioned that Oaxaca Gov. Alejandro Murat had tested positive for COVID-19. “I wish Alejandro Murat well because he has COVID-19. He is strong. I understand that he runs 5 or 6 or 8 kilometers a day; he will resist, courage.”
