President of Argentina. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that Alberto Fernández, president of Argentina, will be attending the morning press conference tomorrow to participate in the commemoration of the 200 years of the Plan of Iguala, the proclamation issued toward the end of the Mexican War of Independence from Spain that prioritized Roman Catholicism, political independence and social equality for the new Mexican state.

Radamés Salazar dies. The president expressed his condolences after the passing of Morena Sen. Radamés Salazar. “A long-time fighting partner, as well as a family of social fighters. The loss hurts a lot and I send a hug to all your family members,” López Obrador said.

Grant payments. Minister of Welfare Javier May announced that participants in the “Sembrando Vida” (Sowing Life) program would receive their payments for February, March and April next month. Minister of Labor Luisa María Alcalde also mentioned that those who are part of the “Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro” (Young People Building the Future) would receive MX$12,930 (US$624.71) in a single payment, which corresponds to March, April and May.

Wrong figures. AMLO rejected data from the Superior Audit of the Federation (ASF) on the real cost of canceling the construction of NAIM. “Well, they do exaggerate and not only that, their data is wrong. I have other data. They are giving bad information to our adversaries, and they should not lend themselves to these campaigns.”

Sputnik V. The president said that the doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine would arrive tonight while another batch from Pfizer would arrive tomorrow. He also thanked the governments of Russia, India and China for delivering the vaccines.
