Highway Blockades. President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that the Ministry of the Interior will release a detailed account of its meeting with trucking associations and agricultural organizations that had threatened a nationwide highway blockade. Sheinbaum said the government remains committed to open dialogue with producers and transporters to address their grievances.

"Our objective is for there to be an agreement with grain buyers so that they first purchase what is produced in Mexico and then import. The Ministry says we see no reason for the mobilizations because the door is open for dialogue. At the same time the demands have been addressed."

Enforced Disappearances. Sheinbaum said the Mexican government rejects a report issued by a UN-affiliated expert committee on enforced disappearances, arguing that the document does not reflect current conditions or the work carried out in recent years. She noted the analysis was based on data from four states covering the period 2009 to 2017, which was then extrapolated to 2025.

"There will be a broader response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is an expert committee. Several issues were not considered by this committee, and for further details, the SRE and SEGOB will continue working on this. The use of enforced disappearance against peoples has nothing to do with the vision of the 4T governments, and we reject enforced disappearance. None of that was taken into account, which is why the report is rejected."

USMCA. The president underscored the role of USMCA as a driver of economic development and competitiveness across North America, stating that all three countries will continue to benefit from the trade framework.

"We are working on it, and the three countries, the three nations, benefit from the trade agreement and from the economic development and competitiveness of North America relative to other regions of the world. We are confident the agreement will be maintained and the specifics will be reviewed over the coming months."

Diplomatic Relations With Peru. The president ruled out any restoration of diplomatic ties with Peru, stating that it was Peru that severed the relationship with Mexico. She said ties with the Peruvian people will continue, but not with the current government.

"That is our wish: that he (Pedro Castillo) may be freed and that the people prevail, always the people. Let us remember that it was Peru that broke relations with Mexico. The relationship with the Peruvian people will always continue."
