Hurricane Beryl. Laura Velázquez Alzúa, National Coordinator, Civil Protection, reported that the hurricane is located 1,400km from Quintana Roo. Landfall is anticipated for the night of July 4th or the early hours of July 5th. "It does not represent any risk to the population at this time."

Hurricane Beryl is advancing through the central Caribbean Sea toward Jamaica. It made landfall on Carriacou island in Grenada on July 1 as a Category 4 hurricane, inflicting significant damage. Subsequently, it peaked as a Category 5 hurricane, the highest on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

Claudia Sheinbaum. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured that despite opponents expecting Claudia Sheinbaum to argue with him, this will not happen due to her alignment with MORENA's ideals. “The line has been drawn since the moment she was elected by the people. She takes office starting on Oct. 1, and I become an ordinary citizen. We are colleagues united in the defense of the transformation initiated by millions of Mexicans."

So far, Sheinbaum has unveiled a total of 12 ministers, reflecting the continuity of MORENA ideals but also presenting a moderate approach in her administration.  The appointment of the new cabinet members, especially Marcelo Ebrard as the new Minister of Economy, has brought certainty and confidence to both investors and international markets. However, confidence levels have not yet returned to those seen before the election.

Genaro García Luna. Pablo Gómez, Head, UIF, indicated that the trial of Genaro García Luna, former Minister of Public Security, is currently in the phase where evidence is being gathered. He stated that, as per the judge's decision, the case is anticipated to be reopened in January 2025.

García Luna is being processed in Florida for five crimes, four of them related to drug trafficking. Alleged crimes entail participation in corporate crime, conspiracy for global distribution of cocaine, conspiracy for the distribution and possession of cocaine and conspiracy for cocaine import. The fifth accusation entails false testimony to US authorities. He is the highest-ranking former Mexican official to face justice in the US for charges linked to drug trafficking and corruption. His trial started three years ago, after he was arrested in Texas.
