Mayan Train. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that the cars for the Mayan Train will be built in Mexico, generating more jobs than have already been taken into account for the project. Most jobs will be created in Ciudad Sahagun, in Hidalgo. Later, the president signed the contract with the Bombardier-Alstom consortium, Gami Ingeniería e Instalaciones y Construcciones Urales, which won the tender for the construction of the cars. “Today we are going to witness the signing of the contract for the acquisition of the trains and cars of the Mayan Train. Both company representatives, including Rogelio Jiménez Pons, will (provide information); we will be accompanied by the ambassadors of France and also the citizen ambassador of Canada because the companies that obtained the contract are from Canada and France. The most outstanding fact is that the trains are going to be built in Mexico because the two companies have plants in our country so that many jobs will be generated, especially in Ciudad Sahagun, in Hidalgo.”

Line 12. AMLO said that this week he is going to meet with Mexico City Head of Government Claudia Sheinbaum to review pending issues after the collapse of an overpass on Line 12 of the metro subway. He also clarified that he would support the reactivation of the service as soon as possible after repairing what needs to be repaired. “I am going to have a meeting with the head of government this week because the federal government is going to help solve the problem. We are waiting for the ruling and as soon as possible, the line will start working; repair what has to be repaired, solve the problem for all those who use this transport system to benefit. This is independent of the judicial investigations, but it is already down to work, solving the problem.”

Election setback. López Obrador said that he realized that Mexico City needs more attention after Morena-backed mayors were defeated in Sunday’s election. “I accept the challenge that it is up to me to serve the city more and serve the poor of the city more because there was a lack of work and information, there was a lot of bombing and manipulation, and I hope all citizens think about it, think about it well.”

Kamala Harris. After the visit of US Vice President Kamala Harris, AMLO said that she left very happy and that, “it was a very beneficial meeting for both peoples.” He also reported that Harris offered Mexico the integration of a work team that will analyze the reopening of economic activities in the border area after the serious effects of the border’s closure in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
