Consultation on Digital Devices in Classrooms. Minister of Public Education Mario Delgado announced a nationwide consultation regarding digital device usage in schools, scheduled for Aug. 24 and 25, 2026, during the Intensive Technical Council Session. Delgado stated that the exercise will involve over 1 million teachers across 200,000 schools to formulate guidelines on integrating technology into educational environments.

Researcher Ravi Iyer addressed the impact of digital platform algorithms on childhood and adolescence, noting that recommendation engines prioritize user engagement over expressed preferences. Iyer stated that current algorithmic structures drive excessive platform usage, unsolicited contact, and exposure to harmful content among young users.

Upper Secondary Education Capacity Expansion. Deputy Minister of Medium High Education Tania Rodriguez reported that the expansion of 88 schools in 2025 created 44,000 spaces for high school students under the Ministry of Public Education (SEP). Rodriguez announced an investment exceeding MX$10 billion (US$587.6 million) to construct, expand, and open 4,485 additional schools nationwide, adding 156,240 spaces alongside Saturday classes, hybrid tutoring, rural outreach via the AFE High School model, and expanded online offerings.

Mexican Casualties in Colombia Earthquake. President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed the deaths of two Mexicans resulting from the recent earthquake in Colombia. Sheinbaum stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) remains in direct contact with affected families to provide consular assistance and facilitate administrative support.

Mexicana de Aviación. President Sheinbaum stated that state-owned airline Mexicana de Aviación is progressing toward financial consolidation, noting that public operational subsidies were planned from its inception. Sheinbaum confirmed that the carrier expects to reach its financial breakeven point once its full fleet of 20 aircraft becomes operational.
