New Mexican ventilators. Two new ventilators 100 percent made in Mexico were presented by Science and Technology Council (CONACYT) head María Elena Álvarez-Buylla. The Ehécatl 4T model was designed by CONACYT’s Industrial Engineering and Development Center (CIDESI), while Gätsi was designed by Dydetec, in collaboration with CIDESI. Álvarez-Buylla said the new ventilators have a much lower cost than imported models and that the whole project was developed in only five months, while a similar process would normally take three to five years.
Contagion is slowing down. Deputy Minister of Health Hugo López-Gatell said the speed of COVID-19 infections in Mexico is slowing down and that the government’s capacity to provide care for the seriously ill remains stable after hospital capacity was expanded. López-Gatell said it is likely that worldwide the new virus will follow the influenza season. “We may face the influenza season worldwide in October and COVID-19 could start a new transmission cycle between October and March 2021,” he said.
Energy Reform was a fraud. President López Obrador said the extradition of former PEMEX head Emilio Lozoya will help to unveil the Energy Reform as a fraud. “This is going to help a lot. The so-called Energy Reform was a great deception, a great fraud,” he said. The president explained that the huge foreign investment promised for the sector never arrived, and the expected reduction in prices of gasoline and electricity never materialized. López Obrador lamented that the only results were a massive looting scheme and the attempted destruction of PEMEX and CFE.
