Military Ambushed/Violence Against Candidates

Soldiers killed. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said two soldiers had been killed in an ambush by armed civilians in Aguililla, Michoacan. He also addressed human riots violations in the military saying the armed forces no longer commit such violations. "The attitude of the Army and Navy is to respect human rights, and it is no longer an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. There are no longer the massacres that existed previously."

 

Abel Murrieta. López Obrador regretted the murder of the candidate of the Citizen Movement for mayor of Cajeme, Sonora, Abel Murrieta. He also assured that those guilty of the crime would be punished. "First, I regret this fact. It is really very sad that these things happen and we send our condolences to the relatives and also the commitment to carry out an investigation and punish those responsible."

 

Water conflict. The president mentioned the conflict over water in Ayutla, Oaxaca, and clarified that, "it is a confrontation between two communities. However, the Mexican government seeks to solve the underlying problem through agreements between the communities."
