COVID-19 vaccine. Deputy Minister of Health Hugo López-Gatell said that according to the Ministry of Health’s studies, if 20 percent of the population gets vaccinated, it would reduce the related mortality by 80 percent. The minister and President Andrés Manuel López Obrador also announced that starting at 8 a.m. today, the government would restart the vaccination campaign given the arrival of a new batch of vaccines from Pfizer to Mexico City, Monterrey and Nuevo Leon. According to López-Gattel, the ideal scenario would be “that we can meet the goal of vaccinating all the elderly in the country before the end of March.” López Obrador also thanked Pfizer. “We are delighted with the compliance of the pharmaceutical company Pfizer because it is fulfilling its commitments on time. We greatly appreciate this.”

Mexico, in terms of COVID-19. Lopéz-Gattel said that so far, Mexico ranked 13th in terms of the number of vaccinations administered worldwide. “The first is the United States, followed by China. The point is not to miss a beat, to continue, not to stop.”
