New joint investment package with the private sector. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that the government is preparing an investment package with the private sector to help with the country’s reactivation. In addition, López Obrador said that the package, which will be presented in January, is not the only initiative that will be carried out between the public and private sectors. “This investment is driving growth of small and medium-sized companies. With the investment that is coming, the economy will reactivate. We will benefit everyone, not just the rich. "

US DEA agents have no link to drug trafficking in Mexico. López Obrador assured that the agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) do not have links with drug trafficking in the country. In addition, López Obrador said that both governments have high trust and mutual respect, meaning that these connections would not be possible. “We have a very good relationship with the US government and especially with Ambassador Ken Salazar. The relationship is one of great responsibility and mutual respect. They are not the same conditions as before; they could not do something like that. "

Layoffs increased in December. López Obrador accused some companies of firing their workers in December so that they would not pay Christmas benefits and bonuses. López Obrador said that 300,000 jobs were lost in December and highlighted that Tecnologico de Monterrey ranks first in dismissals.  “Even though the law was changed and subcontracting is being fought, we still had problems in December. We lost 300,000 jobs, leaving us with just 20 million jobs. Our consolation is that this is above what it was before the pandemic, but we have to increase it.”

New section of the Mayan Train. López Obrador called on hotels in the Riviera Maya to cooperate to build a new section of the Mayan train, which would pass behind their properties. López Obrador said he instructed the Ministry of the Interior, Adán Augusto López, to speak with hotel owners to avoid setbacks in the project. “I take this opportunity to send a message to the hoteliers of the Riviera Maya to help us as a new line will be constructed for the Mayan Train. Hopefully they will cooperate as it does not affect their land.”
