Presidential Airplane. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador celebrated the sale of the Presidential Plane TP-01 Boeing 787-8 "José María Morelos y Pavón," which was sold to the Government of Tajikistan for MX$1.658 billion (US$92 million). Moreover, he confirmed that the money obtained will be invested in two hospitals in Tlapa, Guerrero and Tuxtepec, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, which will be built by military engineers and inaugurated before the end of his term in September 2024.

Veracruz to File Report Against Federal Judge. Governor of Veracruz, Cuitláhuac García, announced that his government will report federal judge Arquímedes Gregorio Loranca Luna for protecting the construction of the Torre Centro building in the port of Veracruz, despite lacking land use and civil protection assessments.

According to the governor, even though it has been proven that the tower was built illegally, the judge has granted protection orders to the owners of the property. He recalled that a total of seven lawsuits have been filed against the construction of the tower, which is located in the center of the Port of Veracruz, just behind the lighthouse.

Meanwhile, President López Obrador supported the legal actions of the Veracruz government but recommended that the complaint against the judge should be presented to the anti-corruption prosecutor's office of the FGR.

SCJN Negotiates With the Federal Government. President López Obrador revealed that Norma Piña, President Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJN), attempted to negotiate with the federal government the date for the National Guard to return to the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC). López Obrador explained that this negotiation was attempted with the head of SSPC, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, who had breakfast with the minister.

On Tuesday, the SCJN declared unconstitutional the legal reform that President López Obrador issued last September to transfer the National Guard to the Army, the former being a corporation he created in 2019 with the promise of keeping it civilian. With eight votes out of 11, the Court invalidated the law. When created, it was established in the Constitution that the National Guard would be under the responsibility of the Ministry of Security.

Yesterday, in a public session, the Plenary of the SCJN set Jan. 1, 2024, as the deadline to transfer the National Guard to the SSPC. This will grant the involved dependencies the necessary time to gradually and orderly carry out modifications to the administrative, budgetary and operational control of the National Guard, with the aim of guaranteeing legal certainty in its operation and the legal status of those who are part of this civil institution.
