López Obrador pays his respect to Miguel Barbosa. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador mourned the death of Miguel Barbosa, Governor of Puebla, who died on Nov. 13in Mexico City. López Obrador described Barbosa as “a fighter for democracy” and said that he was a victim of “the onslaught of the conservatives.” The president commented that it was Barbosa´s original idea to walk down Mexico City´s main avenue on Nov. 27.

Barbosa passed away this Tuesday at the age of 63, after suffering a heart attack on Monday afternoon. He was initially treated in his state, but was later transferred by helicopter to Mexico City, where he later passed away. Ana Lilia Hill, Puebla’s Minister of Interior will be the acting governor.

New politics for the Americas. López Obrador said the Americas have the potential to establish a new economic integration for the region. Unlike the Americas, China plans toward the future, said the president. "They already know what they are going to achieve in 2030, 2040 and 2050, and here we are thinking about the next election, not about the next generation."

Unifying the Americas is a dream that requires work, said López Obrador, and added that US President Joe Biden “is a professional politician who has a vision for the future.” When referring to the need of an alliance for the well-being of people in Latin America and the Caribbean, López Obrador qualified the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and other global financial organizations as false bureaucratic organizations. “They do nothing and do not help nations to boost productivity.”

Bad Bunny could sing at Mexico City’s Zocalo for free. López Obrador publicly invited Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny to present himself at the Zocalo in Mexico City, adding that “we cannot pay him [for the performance].”

The request comes after Bad Bunny offered two presentations at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca, in the midst of controversy surrounding the tickets sales, involving international company Ticketmaster, which is accused of enabling illegal re-sale and bad ticket sale practices. Thousands of people did not enter the concert and lost their money. “Bad Bunny is a supportive person. I am aware of his performance in Puerto Rico. He is a sensitive person,” said López Obrador.

Ricardo Sheffield, Head of PROFECO, will personally review the “Ticketmaster fraud,” said López Obrador.
