Salary increases for teachers/Gas LP prices

Salary increases for teachers. Rogelio Ramírez de la O, Minister of Finance and Public Credit, reported that the federal government will invest MX$25 billion (approx. US$1.25 billion) to increase Mexico´s teacher salaries.  Moreover, he indicated that the general salary policy will have a 3.5 percent annual increase in wages and salaries while there will be a 1.8 percent increase in work benefits. With these salary increments teacher´s average monthly salary will be raised to MX$14,300 (US$ 713.00).

Gas LP prices in Mexico are below international prices. The Federal Consumers’ Protection Office (PROFECO) assured that thanks to the Special Tax on Products and Services (IEPS) policy implemented by the federal government, the cost of fuel in Mexico is below international Gas LP prices. Ricardo Sheffield Padilla, Head of the Federal Consumer Attorney Office, said the average price for stationary tanks is MX$13.55 (US$0.67) per liter while for gas cylinder the average price in the country is MX$25.16 (US$1.25) per liter.

Summit of the Americas. President López Obrador announced that next Wednesday he will meet with members of the organizational commission. He said that during the meeting he will announce his wish that all countries be invited to the Summit of the Americas.
