SAT Tax Collection. Claudia Sheinbaum reported that SAT’s tax revenue reached a historic level between January and July 2025, growing 7.2% compared to the same period last year. So far this year, collections have totaled MX$334.96 billion (US$19.59 billion). She credited this achievement to the trust of taxpayers. “We have strong revenue because people are paying their taxes and know they are being used properly. No one is stealing the money; it is invested in social welfare programs, healthcare, housing, and public works.”

Extradition of Drug Lords. Addressing security matters, Sheinbaum discussed the recent transfer of 26 drug cartel leaders to the United States. She announced that the Security Cabinet will hold a press conference to detail the National Security Council’s decision, clarifying that the measure was taken to safeguard Mexico’s security and was not at Washington’s request, though many of those extradited are wanted in the United States. “In all cases of extradition or transfers of organized crime members, the decision is based on our country’s security. These are sovereign decisions. They are not tied to a request, although many of them have pending petitions,” she emphasized.

Olinia Project. Roberto Capuano, General Coordinator, Olinia Project, presented two key components of Mexico’s electric mobility strategy: neighborhood mobility through a passenger transport vehicle offering a safer, more comfortable, and affordable alternative to motorcycle taxis, and a commercial cargo unit designed to meet the growing demand for urban goods transport.

The project features a fully Mexican-assembled, ultra-light electric mini vehicle, with work underway on a prototype and a pilot fleet expected to launch in June 2026. Developed in higher education institutions and coordinated by the Science, Technology, and Innovation Ministry (SECIHTI), Olinia also carries an emblem, a hare-shaped alebrije inspired by the magic, color, and creativity of Oaxaca’s traditional craftsmanship, symbolizing strength, imagination, and motion.

Kutsari Project. Rosaura Ruiz, Head, SECIHTI, underscored the importance of the Kutsari Project, which develops semiconductors for the Mexican government as part of its drive toward technological sovereignty. The initiative seeks to position Mexico within the global semiconductor supply chain and create a competitive National Semiconductor Design Center operating across hubs in Puebla, Jalisco, and Sonora. “This project delivers solutions made in Mexico for Mexico, with the clear purpose of improving lives,” Sheinbaum concluded.
