Scewworm Cases in Humans. Minister of Health David Kershenobich confirmed six human cases of screwworm infection in Mexico, all detected in Chiapas. He specified that five have been discharged from care, and one person remains hospitalized.

President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that Minister of Agriculture, Julio Berdegué, will hold a call with his United States counterpart, Brooke Rollins, to discuss the screwworm issue, aiming at the lifting of the US suspension on livestock imports from Mexico.

Pharmacies for Well-Being. President Sheinbaum announced that the installation of the Pharmacies for Well-Being program will begin in August 2025. The pharmacies will be established in 5,000 communities far from health centers, operating within Stores for Well-Being.

Sheinbaum explained that the state company Birmex will deliver medicines to Food for Well-Being. This agency will then label the medications for specific patients based on consultations, before the medicines are transported to the stores.

According to Sheinbaum, the overall plan includes a total of 15,000 pharmacies, which will primarily be stocked with medicines for chronic diseases.
