Security Assessment. Marcela Figueroa, Executive Ministry of National Public Security (SESNSP), reported a preliminary 32.9% decrease in homicides between September 2024 and April 21, 2025, with the daily average dropping from 86.9 to 58.3. There was also a 28.1% decrease in homicides from 2018 to April 2025. She noted that 51.5% of homicides occurred in seven states: Guanajuato with 11.8%, the State of Mexico with 8.2%, Sinaloa with 6.9%, Jalisco with 6.5%, Guerrero with 6.1%, Michoacan with 6%, and Baja California with 5.9%.

Minister of Security Omar García Harfuch reported the detention of 18,712 people for high-impact crimes between October 2024 and April 20, 2025. Security actions included the seizure of 144t of drugs, including nearly 1.5t and over 2 million fentanyl pills, and the seizure of over 9,600 firearms. Authorities also destroyed 839 methamphetamine labs. Recent actions included detentions in Chiapas, an attack on police in Villa de Corso, drug and heroin seizures in Coahuila, cocaine seizures by SEMAR totaling 10.2t in maritime operations, fuel seizure and detentions in Salamanca, and the detention of a criminal group leader in Matias Romero, Oaxaca.


FAMEX. President Claudia Sheinbaum announced her attendance at the Mexican Aerospace Fair (FAMEX), organized by the Ministry of Defense (SEDENA) at the Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA). President Sheinbaum said Brazil is the guest of honor due to its significant industrial development. She noted that Mexico's aeronautical and aerospace industry has experienced substantial growth and aims for this growth to continue as part of Plan México.
