Security in Guanajuato.President Andrés Manuel López Obrador called for the renewal of the security institutions in Guanajuato since there have been no improvements, especially in the number of homicides. López Obrador said that the situation in Guanajuato is due to the State Attorney Carlos Zamarripa not addressing the main security problems in the 12 years that he has been in office. "I ask the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic to review what corresponds to the federal jurisdiction because when there are authorities that do not act with rectitude and honesty, progress is not made."

The state of Guanajuato continues to have the highest number of homicides in the country. So far this year, 1,545 people have been murdered in the state. Nationally, the figure is 14,243 victims.

Zamarripa became Attorney General of Guanajuato in 2009 and thanks to a reform he will be able to remain in office until 2028. Zamarripa has been accused of corruption and organized crime, with some demanding his resignation.

Fight against corruption is recent.López Obrador said that during the neoliberal period, the press ignored "the greatest looting in the history of the country." López Obrador said that the press did not adequately report on privatizations, where great opportunities were stolen from Mexicans. “In those days, nobody talked about corruption. It was not a serious crime. Mexico's most important problem, corruption, was not on the agenda. They had us very manipulated. We did not even realize it. "

AMLO: There is no conservatism in Tabasco. López Obrador stressed that Tabasco is an example of how the government can count on the support of the population by correctly managing budgets and listening to their needs. “It has been said that Tabasco is the Laboratory of the Revolution. In the state, there is no opposition or political force of conservatism. … In the last elections, the conservative party only obtained 1.5 percent of the votes.” López Obrador clarified that his objective is not to make other states like Tabasco but to improve them according to their needs.

Medicines have been purchased to combat the national shortage. López Obrador said that the government has obtained the medicine supply to fill the national shortage. López Obrador stressed that the government received a very good deal because the medicines were bought at a lower price. "Next week, we will report on the purchase of medicines, which will be delivered free of charge to the entire population that does not have social security."

The country's pharmacies are short of medicines because the laboratories do not have the raw material to produce them. The lack of material is due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected distribution and production. In addition, COVID-19 vaccines have been prioritized, making it more difficult to obtain medicines.

AMLO: Democracies need opposition. López Obrador said that his government is highly committed to promoting and respecting freedom of speech, even among critics. "Criticism is inherent to democracy, censorship is synonymous with dictatorship. To have a democracy, we must guarantee the right to dissent." López Obrador said that in a democracy, opposition is necessary; however, it must always be informed and open to debate.
