Sheinbaum Defends Sovereignty. President Claudia Sheinbaum responded to the message she delivered on Feb. 5, emphasizing that “Mexico is not for sale.” She highlighted that her speech was rooted in the historical values that have shaped the nation and continue to guide the transformation of public life today.

“It was a deeply republican address, reflecting the long-standing struggle of the Mexican people for sovereignty, freedom, and democracy. These principles have built our nation and remain central to the Fourth Transformation of public life. While some seek foreign support due to lacking popular backing, history shows they are consistently defeated by the Mexican people.”

Development Hub in Zinapecuaro. Minister of Economy Marcelo Ebrard reported on the ongoing progress of the Parque Industrial Bajío Development Hub in Zinapecuaro, Michoacan, a strategic project aimed at boosting investment and regional growth.

The 333ha industrial park has completed its formalization phase, developers are secured, and both public and private construction projects are now underway. Public investment in the project amounts to MX$216 million (US$12.52 million), focusing on hydraulic infrastructure as well as road and rail access, while private investment is projected at MX$2.71 billion (US$157.10 million), with construction scheduled to begin between March and April.

Gertrudis Bocanegra Scholarship and Educational Support in Michoacan. Minister of Education Mario Delgado announced the start of the Gertrudis Bocanegra scholarship in Michoacan, a nationwide first aimed at higher education students to ensure access to education and expand educational coverage.

“The educational strategy guarantees the right to education. The Gertrudis Bocanegra scholarship benefits higher education students: 44,076 young people are registered this week to receive their cards, with the first deposit at month’s end.”

The educational infrastructure improvements include the creation of 7,515 new high school spots, encompassing three technological high schools, five expansions, and eleven cyber-high schools. New facilities have been opened in Maravatio, Morelia, and Uruapan, while more than 20,000 books have been distributed. Investments exceed MX$1 billion for national universities and technological institutes, and three campuses of Rosario Castellanos University will begin preparatory courses on Feb. 9, welcoming over 800 students.
