Mexico Prepared for US Tariff Decision. As the deadline for the implantation of tariffs from the United States approaches, President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that meetings with the US government have been based on ongoing communication. "We will wait to see what happens; there are various plans, and they will be reviewed today and tomorrow. There is reassurance that, regardless of the decision, a plan will be implemented," said Sheinbaum. She also noted that the future of the tariffs depends on the US government’s decision. Still, Mexico is prepared, no matter the outcome.
Programa Salud Casa por Casa. David Kershenobich, Minister of Health, presented an overview of the "Salud Casa por Casa" (Health Home by Home) program for the elderly and individuals with disabilities, designed to offer personalized medical care without patients having to travel. Kershenobich highlighted that the program seeks to be a comprehensive health initiative with a multidisciplinary and holistic approach, promoting self-care and social support.
Progress in Scholarship Distribution. Mario Delgado, Minister of Public Education, presented the progress in the distribution of scholarships and stated that 265,530 scholarship cards have been delivered to date for various scholarships, including the Rita Cetina Universal Scholarship, the Universal Higher Secondary Education Scholarship, and the Higher Education Scholarship.
Record Employment Numbers at IMSS. Zoé Robledo, Director General, IMSS, stated that there are 22,430,931 jobs affiliated with IMSS as of Feb. 28, 2025, noting that this is the highest figure for any February. He also mentioned that in the past 12 months, 141,121 jobs have been created, representing an annual growth rate of 0.6%.
Advancements in Welfare Support. Ariadna Montiel, Minister of Welfare, stated that the registration for beneficiaries of the welfare pension programs, including pensions for the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and the "Mujeres del Bienestar" (Women of Welfare) pension, has been opened. She also emphasized that new beneficiaries have been incorporated into the rehabilitation program in collaboration with Teleton. Additionally, Montiel highlighted progress in the number of women enrolled in the "Mujeres del Bienestar" program and the "México te Abraza" (Mexico Embraces You) program.
