FIFA World Cup Officiating Designation. President Claudia Sheinbaum recognized Mexican referee Katia Itzel García after her selection as the central official for the upcoming Tunisia-Netherlands match in the third round of the FIFA World Cup 2026 group stage. She emphasized that the designation reflects personal performance and serves as a benchmark for gender inclusion in international athletics.
CIIT Infrastructure Alignment. President Sheinbaum announced that an administrative update regarding the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT) rail line will be released within the coming days following a recent derailment incident. The administration is currently evaluating alternative route designs in coordination with local communities in Oaxaca to secure right-of-way permissions and construct a new rail path to minimize sharp curves leading into the port of Salina Cruz.
The Federal Government Did Not Fund CNTE. President Sheinbaum clarified that a recent MX$800 million (US$46.1 million) funding allocation in Oaxaca was directed exclusively to public education infrastructure, teaching positions, and student resources and not to the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) labor union. She stated that while standard operational funds are provided to the union via collective bargaining contracts, this capital deployment remains restricted to regional student support.
USMCA Negotiations. President Sheinbaum confirmed that the USMCA treaty remains fully active, noting that any substantial structural alterations require formal legislative approval from the congresses of all three member nations. She stated that Mexico will maintain its position supporting a tripartite framework during scheduled ministerial communications in July 2026 to ensure regional economic competitiveness.
Cuba Commercial Fuel Export Negotiations. President Sheinbaum announced that the federal government is establishing legal and commercial frameworks to resume fuel shipments to Cuba through authorized private Mexican energy corporations. She emphasized that the upcoming operations will follow standard international trade guidelines permitted under modified Cuban commercial regulations rather than utilizing unilateral humanitarian aid structures.
Colombian Presidential Elections. President Sheinbaum stated that Mexico will withhold official diplomatic congratulations regarding the Colombian presidential runoff election until definitive institutional tallies are finalized. She indicated that the federal executive will follow traditional foreign policy protocols and await the official vote verification, which may conclude during the first days of August 2026.
PROFECO Agricultural Price Stabilization. Ivan Escalante, Head, Federal Consumer Attorney (PROFECO), announced that coordinated working tables between agricultural producer organizations and supply chain representatives reduced the national average wholesale price of tomatoes to MX$129.51 per baseline unit in central wholesale markets. He noted that regular marketplace monitoring will continue to ensure price stability for consumer goods.
Fuel Price Monitoring. Escalante presented the national compliance balance for the fuel price stabilization strategy initiated on May 10, 2026, recording a national average regular diesel price of MX$27.15/L. The agency deployed a digital tracking map to provide public visibility regarding regional pricing transparency and locate service stations offering approved retail costs.
